of course, that isn't gospel, just what I decided on for my book. I tried to make it as logical as possible, since that is the general idea behind my book.

I am hoping on a Left 4 Dead style zombie. I hope to god nothing like tanks, hunter smoker, etc appear. The zombies would be the easiest except for their numbers which is how they get you in L4D 1/2.

"I am hoping on a Left 4 Dead style zombie. I hope to god nothing like tanks, hunter smoker, etc appear. Although the LFD1&2 zombies can be killed with body shots, they are faster, stronger, and can climb better than we can. The necessity of a headshot may even be a plus as it conserves ammunition. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Well, there are essentially lots of different kinds of zombies. Let's take a look at the difference between the Max Brooks zeds and the Zombieland zeds, shall we?:Brooks zombies: Slow, uncoordinated, feel no pain, do not require air to survive, can only be terminated permanently through destruction of the brain. Zombieland zombies: Fast (relatively), still somewhat uncoordinated, but apparently can be killed with shots to the center mass and feel pain(ref. when Columbus is attacked by his neighbor and sprays her with the can in his bathroom, which impedes her temporarily). This leads one to assume that they also require air to breathe. Personally(this may be just me) I'm inclined to prefer the Zombieland zeds. They may be faster, but they're significantly easier to kill too. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

And I think that as the infection continues to kill you start off with vomiting then a fever and then you go unconscious. I then believe you are still living but the fever has gone so high that you start going crazy and attacking people for no reason. (Hints the breathing, running and pain.) Then shortly after you die cause of the fever and are reanimated to the most basic being. Slow walking grunting zeds we all have seen. Any rebuttals? 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

@Wizzle82: EXACTLY! EXACTLY! All plans for survival be it zombies, global famine, enlarged nuclear squirrels with FRIKKIN LASUR BEAMS ON THE THEIR HEAD all of it stems from the idea and planning on how to survive. All survival plans can be modified slightly depending on said apocalypse/situation. Zombies? Unlikely but maybe. Terrorist attack again unlikely but maybe. Global Thermo nuclear war....well...good plans guys but we're all gonna have a nice healthy glow after that one.

Maybe they could be like I am Legend Zeds (more like infected).a massive UV Intollerence so they only come out at night. 28DL kind of traits But they aren't Dumb, Because part way through the film, they notice Will Smiths mansion, and he's like Oh Sh!t, then pulls something an all these protective blinds and stuff come down. this would suggest that If you had a really fortified house, they would immediatly go for that as they would think that it would be possible to have some humans inside. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. i think that the most likely type of zombie is just as fast and strong as a human, and about intelligence i'm not sure, they may be somewhat stupid because of the time they spent "dead".

I think the worst type of zombie would definetly be like the ones in Brian Keene's books The Rising and City of the Dead. While they move a little slower than humans, they can talk, use weapons, band together, etc. They require brain destruction to be killed. They are basically bodies inhabited by a type of ancient demon. When a person dies, a demon takes over the body. They retain all the knowledge of the host...Ohh yeah, and they also take over animals, which is extreamly scary if you think about it...if you haven't read the books, they are a good read.

"Most realistic reference i could think would be 28 days later and its sequel... there are MANY viruses and parasites out there that cause similar effects... rabies has a high chance of evolving. Imagine a person with rabies but the rabies forgets to cause the hydrophobia and progresses allowing the infected to eat and drink... that person will now live longer as the virus gets stronger and effects their mind even more until we get... 28 days later zombies... plausible? highly... we're just that close... lets pray that Rabies or the like don't suddenly evolve another step for our sakes"my risk managment (it was a polical science class) I took in college would tell you that "28 days" and "the crazies" would be possible.. even remotely. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Well, if you prepare yourself for 28 days later style zombies you'll be pretty safe against slow/Romero zombies. If its an airborne virus, we're all f*****

Us without the higher brain functions that are like an operating system and run programs that are our cultural conditioning. Our ethics, social constraints and all the rest that makes us able to live in vast groups are products of that cultural conditioning. And they, I'm suggesting, is why we do not rip a strangers head off because he jostles us in the street. But those higher functions are fragile, too much stress and the subject starts displaying aberrant behaviour. Keep piling it on and you see more effects normally terminating in one of two extremes, catatonia and the reverse manias. Spectacular versions of the last we call 'going postal' for instance. And remember the descent or decay we are talking about here has an effect on the people around the subject, more stress on his family, workmates and friends. Thus making outbreaks and epidemics quite possible. So I propose in addition to the four groups mentioned above there's a 5th that relies on no outside agent apart from what we have done to ourselves in the shape of modern urban life. Goggle 'behavioral sink' if your interested. _ 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Well, I don't know about us currently being inhabited by ancient demons. Sure we all have our own internal demons. In order for this your "5th" type of zombie to become a huge threat though, there would have to be some sort of mass hysteria, mind control, mass psychosis, or something like that. There are crazies running around all over the world right now and even though they are a threat, it's not like a pandemic that is taking out tens of millions of people and then adding them to their own cause. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. I think all that matters for the most part .is how smart they are, how they can be killed, how fast they move, and other variables like that. If you want a completely foolproof plan then plan for fast, cunning zombies that must be shot in the head. The safest bet for weapons in a variable situation would be a shotgun or assualt rifle along with some sort of high quality melee weapon and a sidearm. Of course even within those boundaries there is a lot of room for individual opinion so no matter the type of zombie there is still a lot of ways to approach the situation.
