Zombie Apocalypse MUST HAVES
Jan 20 2010, 6:20 PM EST
check out my blog for a continued in depth look at all the necessary things you MUST HAVE to survive Z-Day.you will also find a theory on how it happens http://www.ryanrydell.blogspot.com here is a sneak peak: They say that Scientists in Russia have found a way to temporarily suspend life for surgical processes. Using a combination of neuroscience and ancient voodoo myth, they found a way to put a person in "Suspended Animation". By inhibiting the brains functions with neurotoxins and replacing the blood with a special saline solution they call "blood water", doctors are able to take as much time as necessary to perform surgery on otherwise time critical subjects. Instead of death, a patient is put into what they call a "dead sleep" until injuries are cared for and the blood is transfused back into the patient. Early trials on Dogs and Pigs have proven successful, and they quickly moved to human testing. KNOW A ZOMBIE WHEN YOU SEE ONE Far too many people will fall victim to a zombie they thought was a fellow survivor. Humanity makes us all want to help save as many people as possible, and when we run accross the random human, its our responsibility to help them. Lose this trait and you might as well become a Zombie yourself. We must remember though that not every one is savable. You MUST "know a zombie when you see one" and eliminate the threat....... 6 out of 11 found this valuable. Do you? |

So are there any must-haves you want to outline here, or are we going to have to read your blog to find anything. This topic seems fairly recent to me, so I thought I'd just have.Guns and bullets would be relatively high on the list, am I right? :/ 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

if you looked at my site, with all the contents, you wouldn't be able to say that.So far I have posted lists under categories - intangibles, weapons: guns, weapons: melee, what to wear, and tools. I will complete my list with - nutrition, vehicles, crew and misc. here is the complete list of items thus far: _____ INTANGIBLES Know a zombie when you see one Drop the dainty and naive ones common sense WHAT TO WEAR leather jacket jeans under armour gloves compass watch footwear bandana eye protection zombie killer t-shirt shoulder holster drop leg holster ankle holster WHAT TO SHOOT 1911 SS Loaded 5" Combat Springfield XDM 9mm .22 Long Rifle 12 Gauge PA Shotgun M4 Carbine Assault Rifle 38 Special Sniper Rifle AMMO 1911 - .45 ACP - 500 rnds SA XDM - 9mm - 1000 rnds .22 Long Rifle - .22LR - 2000 rnds M4 Carbine - 5.56x45mm NATO - 500 rnds PA Shotgun - 12 Gauge Buck Shot - 250 rnds .38 Special - .38 +P - 100 rnds Sniper - varies - 250 rnds WHAT TO SWING Must NOTs (sword, lawn mower, garden tools, chainsaw, hammers) Wooden BB Bat Machete Skinning Knife Trench Knife TOOLS Hank crank radio Sight magnification mini generator multiple flashlights bolt cutters folding shovel small axe siphon crow bar source of fire multi tool duct tape bag _____ So...i'm not sure how this could be considered "doesn't cover much". Especially considering how I've got 4 more topics to cover. If desired, i can post the rest of the items here as they are revealed. I've got much more detail on each item on my blog if you care to read it. 3 out of 8 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Zombie killer tshirt? I'd rather get a pack of tshirts at walmart for the same price."i put that in there for a little "tongue in cheek" relief. of course, if you are gonna get a pack of t-shirts, i would highly recommend against Wal-Mart. The quality of their clothing is terrible. In a PZA world, you will be forced to wear the same clothes a lot, and the last thing you want to deal with 1 week in is a stretched out, uncomfortable, ripped t-shirt. 1 out of 3 found this valuable. Mr. Rydell, I think you have something against Walmart that hails from a much deeper well than your distrust for Fruit of the Loom...Exhibit "A" http://ryanrydell.blogspot.com/2009/12/why-i-dont-like-to-shop-at-wal-mart.html In fact, in another blog post, you reference Walmart clothing AGAIN!! Twice too! I believe that Starter brand workout clothing will rival anything that any other athletic clothing department can put out and does so at a much lower price point. In fact, their "Dri Star" line of compression fit undergarments rival the quality of UnderArmor and cost 1/8th the price - and its essentially the same thing! Dickies are also decent quality as well, and I would stack them up against Dockers any day of the week - at least in terms of durability and comfort. Socks and underwear are socks and underwear, who cares where they were bought? I dare add this point too - I purchased a pair of Adidas running shoes for $120 and a nearly identical pair of Dr. Scholl's "Walmart" shoes for $29.99... and the Walmart shoes are more comfortable and MUCH more durable. I'm a big dude and I wear out shoes fast, and I'll openly express how impressed I am with a $30 pair of shoes! 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

glad to see you like Wal-Mart. To each their own. But when discussing quality, there will always be a better option than Wal-Mart. In terms of your statement "Socks and underwear are socks and underwear, who cares where they were bought?"...I have to assume that you've never owned a nice pair of socks and underwear. There are multiple reasons why Wal-Mart can keep prices low...some of which are not applicable to this conversation...but the most prominent one is quality. Anyone that enjoys the fruits of spending a little more money knows that it DOES matter where you buy underwear and socks. You get what you pay for. Anyways...i'll drop this point, as its clearly not applicable to the topic at hand. 0 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Anyone that enjoys the fruits of spending a little more money knows that it DOES matter where you buy underwear and socks."I can definitely appreciate that sentiment, friend, but allow me to make a surrebuttal despite your attempt at getting in the last word - "You don't know what its worth until its gone." I've been a "have" and now I'm a "have not," thanks to our dicked economy and poor business decisions made by a group of individuals who wear expensive underwear. You know what I've found since I've made the transition from middle to working class? The only difference between underwear bought at Joe Boxer and Fruit of the Loom is what I like to call the "Feel Good Factor." Other than that, they're essentially identical. FGF is, for lack of a better description, high on the smell of your own farts. It's feeling good because you know you paid more, or because you have better. Does it make the undies better quality? No. They're both made by Malaysian child slave labor and you're overpaying for both the cheap and expensive stuff. Your socks aren't going to improve your putting game, nor are they going to make you type any more accurately or quickly. They're certainly not going to make any difference in any measurable way in terms of performance in any field unless you're a very high end athlete - and even then, it's arguable. Let me put it like this - when I go to the gym, my deadlift doesn't improve because I'm wearing a $200 pair of weightlifting shoes. Besides, when you really think about it, we're so very fortunate that we're not wearing animal skins to keep our genitals warm and dry. That's what man did for many years before we developed an advanced enough infrastructure to allow for all of first-world humanity to live like kings. Fruit of the Loom beats that. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

To all...my point about Wal-Mart is this: buy for quality, not price. some expensive stuff is crap, most is good...some Wal-Mart stuff is good, most is crap. StrykerPez...my blog about Wal-Mart (that has nothing to do with zombies) is for entertainment...and also includes a statement about many unstated reasons that i don't like to shop there. where in my post does it say anything about "ugly people"? LJ126...I know what you mean...but its off point, really. If you buy good quality stuff, its not always more expensive...usually yes, always...no. In terms of Zombie Survival, I won't trust my clothing to be supplied by Wal-Mart. I surprised that I would have to support that statement with any kind of reason, as Wal-Mart being assumed as "cheap" is about as rational a statement as 1+1=2. Please, with respect, can we keep this thread on topic? What do you think of my list? 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"To all...my point about Wal-Mart is this: buy for quality, not price.LJ was right about you wanting to get in the last word. You make a whole argument about something then ask us to stay on topic. Nice try. The pajamas I'm wearing right now were $10 at walmart and I've had them for 5 years. High quality clothing can be purchased at walmart. But more on topic, you list a "zombie killer tshirt" as being necessary for survival, so don't be surprised when people disagree. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"I hope that you're not seriously suggesting that people carry all of this crap."i agree there, hombre.. You plan on carrying all this ****? and is the leather jacket on your list for any other reason than you feel like a badass in your exspensive leather jacket? You know how much the ammo alone weighs? close to 80 pounds! that and the 3 pistols, 3 rifles, and a shotgun you list, plus all the other gear, is gonna severely limit your travel distance. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. I'm not surprised though - this is an argument he knows full well that he simply won't win. Guys - if you can find a serviceable item for cheap, it doesn't matter where you found it. If you can afford better, get it, but if you can't... there's always Walmart. I digress, as I'm tired of beating this dead horse. I looked over the list but I find no fault with it, but you would probably get more play on them if you made them into articles here on the ZSDW and placed links to the originals at the top of the article. Just my .02, if its worth anything. Do you find this valuable? |
