Survival IPod/IPhone Applications

I wasn’t too sure if this was the right place to post this but if not I wouldn’t mind at all if you moved it to the rightful place. Anyways…
The IPhone and IPod. I have recently noticed that many people own one of these gadgets among themselves. I for one recently purchased one as well and put some thought in buying some apps. Although I came to consideration on how this gadget would be useful when I am stuck in a survival situation. For instance, what if you weren’t too sure what to do when stranded in some climate region or a fellow survivor is injured. Now I fully understand that keeping these gadgets on for quite awhile shortens the battery life in a matter of time. Unless you know a way of recharging it you can use the right apps to help you out of certain problems.
Relying on technology will usually get you nowhere in this circumstance but I am willing to use whatever help I can get in the time being. I also recently found a free app called WebMD mobile that guides you through medical emergencies. Let me know on what you think about this app.
If you know of any other app that could relate to this please feel free to post. Oh, and be sure to say your reason why the app would be useful. I appreciate any opinions and helpful thoughts on this. Thanks :D

Just saw a guy on CNN that was trapped in a fallen building in the Haitian earthquake and used a first aid app on his iPhone to see what to do to his leg that apparently had a compound fracture.....Might be a good app to get, think I might look into it for my iPhone...T 2  out of 3 found this valuable. Don't you have to be connected to the internet for the apps to work? Do you find this valuable?

I have an app, Zombie Guide i think it's called, it has information on basic survival things like food, water,essential gear, transportation, fortication, and how to kill a zombie. It's worth a buck.

@possumblaster
No, some apps run off the internet but a lot of them like games and stuff don't need internet.
