I prefer my pouches directly attached to my flak. I don't ever do anything hi-speed enough to not be wearing my interceptor vest, and wearing LBV over the flak is just a pain in the ass. That being said, isn't a scramble bag just a backpack, more or less? If so, I would prefer a regular old backpack to tactical gear any day. I will only need a kit with dozens of magazine pouches if I plan on having a steady supply of ammo (and an unhealthy amount of combat). Without the bottomless logistics train that is the military, you will be conserving your ammunition, so you will not really need hundreds of rounds readily available at your fingertips. Keep in mind that professional tac-gear is designed for two things that you will NOT be come Z-day: 1) A person who actively seeks or anticipates gratuitous violent encounters. 2) A person with the full support and backing of a professional military force (including logistical support and personnel). 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Devil are you going to be wearing a tactical vest or are you going to be even more incognito than wearing a tactical vest?http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/TAC5003-1.html I am beginning to think about saving my MOLLE gear plan for intense engagements as suggested elsewhere on the forums and use a tactical vest for bugging out. "Devil are you going to be wearing a tactical vest or are you going to be even more incognito than wearing a tactical vest?Webbing is good for on the move because it helps spread the wieght of your BOB. But I think I'll stick with my assault vest. Gives that little more added protection. Do you find this valuable? |

People here have a point and that is blending in while you're bugging out and not make yourself a target for those seeking help because they think you are law enforcement\military or want to challenge your marksman skills.During more military like operations, I would prefer MOLLE gear. Over here in the states we have already started going to some thing else (Speed Clips, the "Newest-and-Coolest"), so every MOLLE item by BlackHawk is on mega sale. Granted, for you it would be allot to pay for shipping to get the stuff over there, I don't know what the shipping policy is for BlackHawk, but I think they would ship it to where you are. I would always take my vest with me. And my flack, for my... The passenger. And a few other goodies for said passenger. Do you find this valuable? |

Then again that was from one sight. Its good stuff like and I think that will be the way forward but still a bit pricey for me. I was lucky to get mine for £50. Do you find this valuable? |

I agree with what Devil said, when wearing a flak an LBV is a pain in the ass. I seriously doubt my flak will acompany me on ZDay, so I would say the LBV or "tactical vest" is the next best option. The only thing I'm not real keen on with the LBV is how flimsy and flexible the common nylon material is. When using pouches with snaps, or even fresh velcro for that matter, the vest doesn't always hug the body tight enough to prevent the best from from being pulled away from the body when trying to quickly open a compartment. This isnt a problem with the flak, because the material is much heavier. When carrying magazines with an LBV, I usually tuck the cover to my pouches in before I insert the magazines. The magazines fit in the pouches plenty snug to keep them from falling out when running or climbing, but it doesnt protect them from dirt, rain, etc. If there was a perfect system then there wouldn't be options, so it all comes down to what works best for you. Let them issue all of your crap for free, dont waste your money. Believe me, after six years of service I have seen 3 new systems come and go, and I have a personal stockpile of unreturned gear that is mine to keep. If you stay in, you will likely amass a similar collection. Do you find this valuable? |

"Devil are you going to be wearing a tactical vest or are you going to be even more incognito than wearing a tactical vest?"Neither. I will not be dressed for combat. The way I see things, combat reduces your chances of survival long-term, so I will not be fighting if I can avoid it. The most you will see me with is a handgun concealed in a waistband holster, and you won't ever see that unless things really go wrong. Come Z Day, you will find me in jeans, new balances and a nice hoodie. Do you find this valuable? |

It means you can take it with you and adjust it - try out different set ups etc. We have to buy all our nice **** mate. The stuff you get issued is like years old. Not bad but like crap. The only way you get extras like Patrol Sacks etc is by signing them out for an op but its not your and you have to put it back like. And I start basic training on 15th Feb. Believe me, you WILL end up with extra gear over the years, by picking up some poor fellow's missing XYZ after each exercise. There are always those idiots who don't keep track of their sh!t, and you cant tell whos it is by looking, so you hold on to it. As long as you keep good track of YOUR gear, you will end up with some extra. And good luck in basic. Be sure to pop in afterwards to tell us all about it. Do you find this valuable? |

The hoodie I am wearing right now has a big through-and-through pocket in the front that will EASILY hold 4 full AR/AK mags, and I can get to them just as easily as I would get to them in deuce gear, but without calling all of the attention to myself by dressing up like a walking tank.

Well your not allowed to use the good stuff in basic and I think we have our own saying "If it works, give it 'em" lol. Most squaddies by their own gear especially things like cookers, bergans, sleeping bags etc etc just because they can. Oh and I'll makesure I have plenty of photos for you mate.
