Where will you go when the zombie apocolapse happens?

I personally will go to Cabelas. They have food there but most of all, they have tons of guns. At least 50 handguns, 30 shotguns, 50 rifles, and tons of ammunition.

Only after having been infected, and recovered, can you become immune to the Wal-mart plan. Do you find this valuable? |

I'll tell you why most people think of Walmart first but some (this example included) don't.There is a Wal-Mart is every city. If not more. It's the easy big-box carry-all choice. Cabela's, for example, is only located in a few towns across the nation. There's no difference between a Cabela's Plan, a Wal-Mart Plan, a Home Depot plan, a Gun Store Plan, or a Mall Plan. People in an unfamiliar situation will go to the most familiar place where they think they can get what they need. And EVERYONE in a disaster is in an unfamiliar situation and most of them, if they lack previous preparation, WILL head to one of those places. Do you find this valuable? |

I figure people have all the good common places picked out so I decided to go hunting for one of my own.My immediate zombie evac plan is to go to Elk City West Virginia. It is about 8 hour drive from my current position and 8 hour drive from where most of my family lives in PA and Virginia. I found elk City west Virginia to be a prime spot there are less than 100 families in the entire town. there is a wall mart and home depo in the city ( not going to set up shop there but if in the first stages of the outbreak will pillage for resources.) the weather there for 6 months out of the year zombies will be frozen. It is sitting in the mountains so it won't be a prime area for wandering zombies to travel to. There is a river flowing through the city there is no other populated city for over 50 miles. After reaching the city gather resources and go north about 10 miles there are no roads, so it's not likely that and surviving bandits will find us. staying on or near the river we will be able to live out many years alone in solitude while we wait for the zombies to slowly die off. Please give me any tips on my plan or let me know what you think. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Kudos for not mentioning Wall Mart, but Cabellas isn't much better. Unless you can eat guns, knives, tents, etc, you won't last very long in there.

"Well, cabelas does have a decent supply of food (the one near me has tons of beef jerky, water, and those "hunter meals" that are basically dolled-up MREs. Still, though, it isn't the best option. Do you find this valuable? |

If you factor in the candy and stuff, maybe a few extra days. Of course, with the amount of people going there, you'll be lucky to last 20 minutes. Do you find this valuable? |

i would say underground, but there's no food underground. my next thought is to the air, but helocopters require alot of maintenance (which is hard to do with a zombie knawing on you). i guess the next thing to say would be run for the hills, but i think that half the population would have had that thought already, and stores and crops would be pretty much wiped out... so im going to disney land
