If we were to have a pre-Zday convention...
Jan 28 2010, 9:40 PM EST | Post edited: Jan 28 2010, 9:40 PM EST
...would you come? Let's assume, for a minute, that is is near enough that you would be able to get there without too much difficulty (this may or may-not be the case.) Would you consider coming to meet in person, talk about stuff, and basically just have a general get-together?

I just want to know if it would be even remotely possible to do something like this.

Just wondering.

"Zombie-con? I like it."
Cool.
I also figured that if, by some long shot, we actually did it, we could sell merchandise (like those hats y'all were talking about.)
Or my T-shirt: "If you can read this, I was outta bullets."

Those on here who write fiction could talk about their latest works.

And I'm sure there's other stuff that could be done.

Of course, there would be lots of problems, like finding and booking a location, etc.

Without a doubt. There are some hands I'd love to shake. One really big hug I'd love to get and one black eye I'd like to hand out.... Just kidding about the black eye....Well not really. >:)

I'd love to have a get-together. Will it happen? Considering how widespread our members are... I don't know. Do you find this valuable?

You silly bear you /hug

I do see a problem though. I'm not sure the sunset room at the airport Hilton would be happy about 50+ zombie survivalists packing heat in their conference room. Sorry, but I don't travel unarmed.

It'd probably be okay as long as you hadf it concealed (i.e. not shotguns, sadly.)

So, if we were to do this, we'd need to find a location. I was thinking of somewhere in the midwest, since most of us are on either one of the coasts (sorry to our members in the UK.) Of course, I'm sure there are other places.

Already taken, it seems. And appears to be pro-zed.

We need a "Zed-Prep" or "Z-Day" or something.

I've wondered if this site is on any watchlists already.

The government has much more important things to worry about, they would never take us seriously. No offense to anyone here, but we're not that important.

What we should try and do is to set up some type of regional meat and greats and then work up to a more notional or world meeting.

For instance members and others from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois meet up at a hotel in the Indianapolis area. We could set up discounted room rates, and off set the expenses by having a room of dealers of survival gear, tactical gear, blades, tools, games, books, and clothing.

I went to a small Con. in Lansing and there were about 60 spaces rented in their sellers room filled. Each seller paid $100 per 10 X 10 foot space. If we could sell 50 spaces at $100 each, we could pay the expenses and possibly all of the ZSDW members rooms, and travel. Or even put the profit into an account to help set up a U.S. ZSDW Con..

We would also make money from non-members by charging non-members $5 per person entry fee. We could possibly after having 5 regional cons., we could have $10,000+ to set up the national meeting.

I am willing to come and even to be part of the organizational team.

Well, I've found a location. It's a park owned by my Great Uncle that he has concerts at sometimes. He agreed that I could use it.
Pros:
Free
Large enough for any number of people.

Cons:
All outdoors (with awnings and roofs)
In the middle of nowhere, pretty much (central Virginia.)

I think the idea of regional ones is a good idea. But, I think many states require permits to charge admission. However, they can't do anything against "donations."

That seems great to me SasquatchJim. It' close enough for me and I was going to comment that the collective 'we' on this site are supposed to be survivalists and would gladly welcome some spartan quarters. :-)

The only requirement to keep it within civilization is some plumbing for bathing and toilet facilities. A shower house and port-a-potties would suffice too.

Would it need to be over a weekend or weekday for the price (free)?
