Um...

Is anyone aware that we currently have a total of 5,006 pictures in the gallery? I just checked and was wondering if any cleanup was planned for it? If there is I would be glad to do it.

Its a real PITA. Some of the pics are stuff that is nice to have around, like logos, "Under Construction" signs, headers, icons, etc. Some are pics uploaded by users as part of an album, such as my "Military Vehicles" album or LJ's "Mosin Sniper" album. Unfortunately, most are pics that are / were added to pages, and the user editing the page forgot to uncheck the "Add to Gallery" checkbox on the upload dialog. These are usually just random photos downloaded off of Google. Figuring out which is which is rather difficult. Do you find this valuable? |

"Its a real PITA.Well I figured at least that could be done is get rid of some of the pictures that aren't needed. Fantasy weapons that were uploaded by users that are no longer active. The upteenth Glock pic that just hangs around. Guns that are unidentified. Pics that are untitled and unlabeled. Not talking rampage here. Just a gradual organization. Maybe have a grace period for users to fill in some stuff. Some stuff is pretty simple. I'd leave instruction type stuff alone. As well as the status signs. Mostly the random pics that have no real place on a Z site. I saw a pic of a Wookie awhile back. No text just a wookie. Do you find this valuable? |

Yeah, I had noticed that. To make a long story short I have been having problems uploading pic. onto this site so I thought they were just winding up in the archive, that was not what was happening. As for the uploading I am sure it is my computer, but as I was going through the photo section I found many photos that didn't make sense to be on this site. For ex. I found a photo of spongebob, of course I reported it, and every other that I felt doesn't belong on this site, but isn't there something that can be done to keep that from happing? Really spongebob? Just a concern. Do you find this valuable? |

But it's a no-no unless it's requested. Someone may have wanted SpongeBob at their Avatar Pic but didn't know that they were also adding it to the Pic Database. RE: Your Photo's- What's the specific problem? You try to add & it won't? Or what? Do you find this valuable? |

"RE: Removing Photo's-Well the idea was to sort the useful ones and send links to the ones I deleted. Avatar pics don't need to be stored on-site. Our computers can also store them. Do you find this valuable? |

"Well the idea was to sort the useful ones and send links to the ones I deleted.Oh, No... Fully Agreed. I made the mistake of that several times when I first started pimping my profile. Little did I know I was not only adding 3046 X Something photos to my profile but also the Photo Database... Do you find this valuable? |

"Oh, No... Fully Agreed. I made the mistake of that several times when I first started pimping my profile.Yeah I never really got the hang of profile editing. But as for sorting that part would be fairly simple. Have multiple users skim for different things. One for locations, pistols, rifles, etcetera. Have them put it in an album and add the relevant info such as ammo type for weapons and dimensions for buildings. For the short time I was on LJ's site that's how I sorted pics and it was pretty clean. Do you find this valuable? |

I know I have had several times that I've been adding a photo for a page (not that often) or for my profile (the majority) and completely forgotten to click that little box in the corner. Since I can't delete the image, I'll generally add a description but I'm guilty of adding unnecessary pics by accident.Possible solutions - I don't know if it's possible to make this happen, but could there be a way for the person that added the picture to delete them off of the archive? - Send a PM to all mods asking for it to be deleted. -Maybe have a way to add them into certain categories? Such as my "The Awesome Family" picture. Not really on topic, but still funny. Could there be an entertainment section for stuff like this? Do you find this valuable? |

If the mods agree we could go with my idea and put the images deemed irrelevant into a seperate folder then have people PM the ones who added them and ask the reasoning. Might be too complex though and we could just be better off seperating the wheat from the chaff and letting the chaff fall where it may. Do you find this valuable? |

I had to add and re-add pics when I was doing my profile last. If there is a pile of duplicate pics from me, delete them if you like and I will re-do my profile later.

"Well, photos from my computer wont upload, it gets complicated from there. Basically what happens when wet paint goes to 'reformat' the image, it stops uploading. I think it may be the files I am using. I have tried resizing, saving it as every option my computer offers but to no prevail. Images from the internet using the regular 'copy and paste' method works well though, so it has to be a problem specific to my computer. I'm pretty good with computers, so I should be able to figure it out. It is only a matter of time. Do you find this valuable? |

I suppose people could help by putting their own pictures in their own little album?
