alternitive to Tactical Vests

I'm in the process of turning a boiler suit (Follow link at the bottom of the page if you don't know what it is) into a pocket suit. so far my design is just simply material sown over the legs arms and chest with Velcro seals. Any ideas before I start buying materials. also do you think this is a realistic alternative for people who cant get taco vests?

Interesting idea mate.

Just wondering though how much it will all cost at the end and whether or not the material is breathable and adds any protection to erm...bites?

that's a great idea!

One thing that comes to mind to make this is to buy TWO of these suites.

One you're size.

One EXTRA big! (Or something like that)

Then you can put one inside the other. Use the outside one for your pocket material and cut away what you don't want.

Even keep spots like at the elbows and knees and add padding to make knee/elbow pads.

I think you should possibly add some ventilation to the boiler suit if its a hot day out the last thing you wanna be bothered about is the heat and the boiler suit will just intensify it by keeping the heat and sweat on you. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

another alternative is a hunters vest, like those by Filson. Even in those countries or locals where tac-vest are prohibited, the hunters vest has all the utility of a tac-vest, at a faction of the cost. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I think I like this idea, you can do the same with old military jackets too.

I used to do some construction work a few years back and I loved my tool belt for it's usefullness, it would have been easy to stuff some rounds in those packs for quick access.

Could always wear a tac vest over that suit your making, if you ever come up on one.

Send me a picture of how it goes, I'm curious.

I think the most obvious alternative to a tactical vest would be a chest rig and a good pair of cargo pants. This setup is extremely lightweight, comfortable, easy to move in, and has plenty of storage for ammunition and other gear.

I don't see why anyone can't have a tactical vest or something similar. With the internet, a few paychecks (or less depending on your pay rate), and some research, anyone can have a halfway decent kit.
