VIDEO: Zombie Hunting with Possumblaster
Feb 18 2010, 7:04 PM EST | Post edited: Feb 18 2010, 7:16 PM EST
Video is uploading now!

Join Possumblaster for 5 minutes of blasting zombies from 50 meters to 600 meters.

It should be up within the hour to the Youtube channel. On the 600m shots you can actually see the bullet fly through the air and strike the target. Hope to see you there!

Direct link will be posted here upon upload completion.

Very nice!

Although, if I may be so bold, for the bloodthirsty crowd-pleaser: use pumpkins or watermelons for effect.

I would like to use shotguns in the 20-30 ft range on pumpkins & melons to demo blast.

Thanks!

All input is welcome, and I will probably round up some pumpkins for the next video. It's supposed to be cold tomorrow though :(

I'll definitely be on the look out for some melons of some sort before my next video.

Would a litter of fuzzy kittens suffice?? J/K!!!!!!

Thanks for the input.

Now that you mention it...

Anyway, it was a great video.
*MUCH* better than I could do with my lack of video taking skills.

Also, nice Rem. What's it chambered in?

Thanks!

The Rem 700 is chambered in .223. I am trying to keep as many guns in .223 as possible, because that is the caliber that I am reloading/stockpiling. I would have gotten a .308, but honestly I'll never shoot further than 600 yards anyways. For me personally, .223 fits the bill.

If I lived in, lets say, Kansas on the plains then I would definitely go with the .308. Not because of the extra damage, but because of the extra range that .308 would provide. Where I live range is really limited due to the hills and trees.

Awesome! I think the channel is coming along fairly well, and I'm really glad that Alex got it all set up and got the ball rolling on the idea.

Nice hits, glad to see that you dispatched those zeds for us ^_^

I like the idea of pumpkins, but melons are great if you can get 'em. Also if you can find a handgun, I'd like to see some potshots with them.

"Post 7"
I hear you.
*metaphorically*

I only have the .243 because I hunt for white tails, and I heard that it was rather tough to use a .223 on one.

But yes, the channel is coming along nicely.

Nice shots, especially considering it's a .223 at that range. Is this the stuff you loaded in the other videos?

Thanks, yeah I'm thinking for my next one I'll use a watermelon for his head. I am not sure if .223 will do anything to the melon though, especially because I am using full metal jacket bullets. I'll try it though

Also I'd like to point out something that this video shows:

Heat distortion. If you notice in the last section of the video at 600 meters, the heat from the ground actually distorts what you see. The camera is perfectly still but you can kind of see everything waving around a little. That's from the heat bending the light. It starts to become noticeable at 500 meters plus.

It can mess with ranging targets, and also with shot placement.

Thanks, and yes all bullets that I shoot are my handloads. I can't say if they were the exact rounds from the video on the channel or not, but every load I make is the same. I found a load that works and have stuck with it for months now.

The stuff that is store-bought is packaged up and stays in the safe. I'm saving that for only in case I run out of components for my handloads. (And the store-bought stuff just isn't as good to be honest.)

Well if you can't get melons, milk jugs work, or even the liter bottles of soda.

What'd be nice is if someone could get a hat or shoulder cam and film a clearing video.

Perhaps next time I head out to the desert to go shooting I'll bring the camera and kill some melons with the shotgun. Do you find this valuable?

LOL, I was contemplating "staging" the massacre of a litter of kittens but I figured it may be in bad taste :)

OK all I'm out, catch ya tomorrow.
