"It honestly depends on where I'm at. If i'm in the weld lab (where i'm at nearly 9 hours a day.) Then I'm walking out with a fully functional sword and a suit of armor.

"If you are already at the point of using melee weapons, a bit of protection would be prudent, Event if it's simply a piece of aluminium that has bent cut and bent to act as a bracer.

Five hours on a vehicle would be tough, there wouldn't be much you could do in that short of a period that would be worth the effort.
