say u dont have any guns or knives and u have like 5 hours compeletely safe for some reason and u really need something to defend yourself with. im basically asking if you could make ur own weapons in 5 hours if theres nothing better u could use. (shivs, shanks, spears, etc...) Do you find this valuable?

I'd fasten myself a spear out of a sharpened wooden pole of some sort. If it worked for our ancestors I think it will work for me.

It's sturdy, has long reach and even if it broke I could make another with minimum hassle.

sharpen a long piece of wood that you can handle. But try and fasion a cross piece on the end so that the first thing you stick doesnt take you weapon with it. Do you find this valuable?

break off a large dining room table leg. takes 10 min to build at most and unlike a spear or knife it is more likely to do damage to the brain witch is needed to kill a zed and it wount get stuck in the first zed you kill

well id probably make a few weapons if i had 5 hours the first one would be for me to get a table leg and put spikes on it with nals and stuff the second weapon i would make would be 3 spears i will get a stick about 3-4 feet long and break off the handle of a kitchen knife cut a 1 inch wedge in it and ansert the knife blade finally i will fasten it with some shoe string since i have countless unused shoes most though arent mine finally i will make a shield that is about 1 foot wide in all directions and atleast 1 inch thick out of wood that in all would take me atleast 1-2 hours at most the finall 3-4 hours i have left i will make a run for it in my pickup truck after putting all the food and water that i can find in bags and containes placing them in the back and head to the sierra nevada mountains if it were an infection i would only need to stay there for about 1-2 years at most but if it were a zombie apocolypse i may have to stay there for up to 2-5 decades at most i would use the spears as throwing spears to catch animals the shield and makeshift club for defence primarily against other humans i live in california yay for its diverse geography Do you find this valuable?

Well, I am an amature blacksmith, so if I was given enough scrap metal, I could make a spear. That, or tie a rock to a stick. xD Do you find this valuable?

The whole point of being prepared is so you don't find yourself in this situation.

The solution to your problem is to never be without a weapon. I always carry a knife or a baton on me when I'm out of the house. when I'm in the house...well...it would take me 5 hours just to pick which weapon I really want to use...because I have a lot of weapons.

No. The gasoline will melt the plastic. There is a reason you can only fill up approved containers at gas stations. They don't want you to use something that will fall apart on the forecourt.

"what about a super soaker flame thrower?"
like dissolves like so if your filling a plastic gun with any type of petroleum your going to turn yourself into a fireball instead of zombies.

for me I think i would go to the closet (any closet) and pull out the pole used to hang clothes. its about a 2in rod dowel. id probably lash a piece of sharpened angle iron to the front for good measure. but this is only if somehow i don't have any access to all my gear.

It honestly depends on where I'm at. If i'm in the weld lab (where i'm at nearly 9 hours a day.) Then I'm walking out with a fully functional sword and a suit of armor.

Honestly this situation depends on time and place, what do I have access to? There are few places where you don't have access to workable weapons.

wow brandon, if i had access to those resources I think i would spend more time caging up my vehicle a bit so I could make it to a place where I have weapons.

We were discussing weapons.

and besides, the sword would take some time in the oven to heat treat. I'm sure I could things to do during that period.

yeah i know this is about weapons but when i saw the armor comment I couldn't help but think theirs better ways you could use that time. but its your 5 hours so you do whatever you think will help you.

If you are already at the point of using melee weapons, a bit of protection would be prudent, Event if it's simply a piece of aluminium that has bent cut and bent to act as a bracer.

Five hours on a vehicle would be tough, there wouldn't be much you could do in that short of a period that would be worth the effort.

But again, this thread is about weapons, just like the rocket thread was about rockets and not explosives. I've already detailed what I would do to a vehicle given the chance in threads on that topic.

Dragonvilla has said pretty much what I would do. My kitchen knives are full tang though. I'd bust off the handle and the fasteners with a sledge and chisel. Cut the broom part, saw a slit in the middle, drill some holes, use a nut and bolt to fasten a blade at each end. Probably the 12 inch butcher knife at one end and the meat cleaver on the other end.... Unless you're not counting Kitchen Knives...

I would say...Wiffle Ball bat filled with quick dry concrete and nails or tent spikes. :D a brutal club, lol.
