Military training gives you what you get out of it if you are willing to absorb the input around you. Combat experience will help you in making tough calls & dealing with life or death situations.Job's I would think that rate pretty high up there. Farmer Gardener Rancher Hunter Fisherman Carpenter Engineer Doctor/Nurse/EMT/Midwife Tailor/Seamstress By no means is this a definitive list. Let me ask you all this: when was the last time you had to fix something with your own two hands? 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Im a Radar Technician in the navy, i doubt radars are gonna be high in demand"Correct, they won't. But think about all the things you have to know to even BE a Radar Tech. I'm sure you've had some time behind a Ratchet, and maybe a Soldering Iron, connecting wires to female recievers... If you look deeply at what you do, you might be able to transfer that to other things... 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Lets not forget the people that build and operate hydroelectric dams. Same for nuclear power plants. Without power, we will return to the living standards of the 18th century and stay there. *edit* A chemist or two would probably be useful. Do you find this valuable? |

I think most jobs have some transferrable skills.Except lawyers. Their entire career is based upon the legal system which would no longer exist. Hope they have some good hobbies (although their 80 hour workweek would suggest otherwise) 4 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

"I think most jobs have some transferrable skills.I know they generally can write up documents fairly well and have decent vocal skills, but even still they'd have a role limited to say, writing a contract or something along those lines. Paper-pushing jobs in general don't stretch far enough to count for much beyond punching in numbers, fixing coffee, playing Evony, eating Cinnamon rolls, checking out that attractive chick/dude three cubicles down that you don't have the guts to ask out and eventually getting chewed out by your manager since you played Evony instead of punching in numbers. how about some less "specific" jobs like"jack-of-all-trades" handyman (general repair) "trader" (deal maker) landscaper (general type of "farmer") to the very skilled... auto/truck/heavy equipment mechanics appraiser ammunition reloader (not usually a career or professional job) alternative power technician biologist botanist chemist veterinarians 1 out of 1 found this valuable. "Correct, they won't.I deinatley agree, the fact that ur Radar specific, does not negate the fact that u r a well trained sea man. ur experience in commo as well as electrical work would u make u invaluable. Not to mention the fact that u can handle a weapon! Do you find this valuable? |

Anything that provides you with plenty of money to buy survival gear and the knowledge to use it. Wouldn't it be easier to survive the apocalypse you had enough money to effectively buy whatever you need for that situation right now? While we're disparaging lawyers, consider a patent lawyer with a fat paycheck that has a bomb shelter added to his house stocked with supplies and spends his weekends learning from high-end instructors in the art of survival, shooting, and self-defense.
