How long does it take for gasoline to become unusable for engines? Do you find this valuable?

I had a 93 Honda Civic set for almost 4 years with out starting it, had a partial tank of gas in it when I parked it. I charged the battery up and it started right up and ran fine on the old gas. Drove it on the old gas for a while befor filling up with new fresh gas. Saw no difference in performance at all ...car ran great. Car was fuel injected and gas was regular low octine
I used to buy old VWs and some of those I am sure sat even longer and unless water got into it they ran fine on the old gas in the tank. Carborator cars and gas was regular leaded
I've talked to others who have simular experances

How long is Gasoline usable?...I don't know but I do know from experance it is longer then what many people think.
Do you find this valuable?
