Z-day in South Texas
Feb 28 2010, 3:58 AM EST
Looking for ideas about where to meet up with others when something bad does happen, Z-day or any other event, that has us all running for the hills. By south Tx in mean anything south of San Antonio, and west of Houston. I'm in brownsville, and I know that between this area (the south tip of Tx) and Corpus there are several rest stop areas on US 77 where it runs through the King Ranch. The King Ranch itself is pretty uninhabited, and would make for a good place to gather, and build up some manpower, and supplies. From there it's easy to either stay in the King Ranch (like I said it's uninhabited because it's the largest section of privately owned land in Tx) or make our way to the coast ( only 30 minutes from US 77 where it runs through the Ranch) or if need be it's only an hour from the border, if mexico is in any better shape.Let me know what your ideas are, love to hear 'em. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Sounds pretty good, some challenges though. Those rest stops? Full of food, clothing items, gas and stuff? Are like pop open boxes of yummy, yummy food. These places may well be inhabited by people and may not welcome you and your people with open arms. I pray that the people are not evil greedy bastards who need to be put down.....But then again I see the Zed as making EVERYTHING half emptyLove the part about meeting up in a large less populated area, THAT is smart. I'm in Garland and I'll keep your plan in mind. Please don't shoot the dude with the cross bow! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Good Luck, I live in Clear Lake, an annexed town by Houston, directly southeast. My only option is to leave when first signs show, or try to wait out the panic. Unfortunately I'm right on the way to the coast, so... You have an advantage being west of us, so use it to get where you need to go before the herd arrives. Do you find this valuable? |

i live near houston in the humble area off 59 near kingwood. i am pretty f*ed if the outbreak happens fast because i live in a very populated area. and okay i really like the king ranch idea. it is a huge peice of land that has almost no one there however i would have a hard time getting there/.

I'm in suburban southwest houston, and I think that your idea is a little obvious, as in everyone would go there. king ranch is the biggest plot of land in tx, taught to every kid in tx history... who would think to go there, and worse, it's prairie. no cover whatsoever. (just my opinion)

the texas coast is a great place to hole up despite a few obvious dangers a huge cargo ship could become a floating haven capable of moving you anywere in the world with complete facilitys for human survival on the seas and abundant food in the water
