PASGT Helmet (previous generation army kevlar helmet)
Multicam BDS Plate carrier
ESAPI plates. (7.62 AP rated, you can get them off Ebay)

That's all I need. I would think anything more would just be extra weight and hinder mobility.

I have 2 kevlar helmets (which I wouldn't wear)
ESAPI's but nothing to put them in (I wouldn't wear them anyway)

I guess I'll just stick to my reinforced toe combat boots and my sweet leather jacket.. and sunscreen... of all the reasons to die, mine would be caused by a sunburn

Everything that is standard issued to every Marine, which is a painfully long list of crap that I will never wear.

If you get close enough to a zombie where armor comes in to play, you probably deserved to get bit in the first place.

lol.

I almost agree. It'd be nice to have some nice thick gloves or sleeves to stick in his mouth before your face goes in... could give you enough time to stick a pen into his brain via eyesocket.

Just as an idea everyone. I have 2 sets of lacrosse shoulder pads and they are EXTREMELY light and made out of durable plastic materials and sometimes even leather. Google lacrosse pads. I think in a REALISTIC situation these would do a great job.

Also, in the art program here at my school we have leather suits for welding and plasma cutting. Its simply a brown leather hide that goes over your torso and legs. It is quite strong and a human bite would never be able to bite through. Its light and very warm as well. Check these out.

Yeah. They would probably be my main outer armor in the apocalypse. Over top something like a leather welding suit. Complete protection at all times IMO.

That's pretty cool.

IMO, though, the best armor is your brain. I don't care what anyone says: you cannot run around in full-riot gear and expect it to be a breeze. Any piece of armor makes it easier for a zombie to grab you. Being smart and staying out of reach is better than any armor.

The only armor piece I can see a bit of merit in are knee pads. The thick ones make it easier to shoot crouching.

Yeah, that isn't too bad. At least you can still move around.

For me, I'm stickin' with my normal clothes. I don't really see the need to change.

Same.

I'll keep the camelbak, the cold weather gear, and the sleeping system. And the fleece pullover (pure awesome). The rest I will trade away to the mall ninja paintball assassins for the last of their toilet paper.

Only thing for armor wise that I have is steel-toed leather work boots (think short combat boots) ATV helmet (no face shield), leather gloves, and a trench-coat made of thick canvas-bag-like material, semi-waterproof.

Granted, I wouldn't ever wear the helmet, it conflicts with being able to see your surroundings; and given the time I'de cut down my coat to make it practical or it wouldn't get used at all for "armor". Human teeth couldn't chomp through, not so good against cat's claws or dog teeth.

No joke dude, that fleece is a god send. I never thought of hanging on to any of it to trade. Wonder how much a mall ninja will trade me for a digital gortex or a desert LBV with grenade and magazine pouches.

Edit: Don't forget to mention that its "tactical"

Eh the only armor I have is a bulgarian steel helmet, a good pair of blue jeans, a good pair of all weather boots, a good shirt and medium jacket. The only armor I may get beside what I have is kneepads and a gasmask. I found a site with a deal for a 2001 Bulgarian gas mask with spare filters :D Do you find this valuable?

A full leather body welding suit is just like a shirt.
