Anyone planning on using a single shot?
Mar 8 2010, 8:51 PM EST | Post edited: Mar 8 2010, 8:51 PM EST
I recently grew to like my Rossi SS .22 rifle. Accounting for the time it takes to load my Marlin Model 60 completely, and clear the jams, they average out to roughly the same fire rate.

This brings me to my question. Is there anyone who is planning on their main weapon being a single-shot rifle or shotgun? If so, can you explain why? Thanks.

That sounds good. As long as you practice with it, you'll probably be fine.
How many 000 pellets can a 20 ga. hold?

My Ruger No.1, 25-06 is a single shot rifle, and it's accuracy at long ranges is unparalleled. Is it my only weapon? Not by a long shot (forgive the pun.) It's a niche weapon. Do you find this valuable?

That can't be right. My 3.5 inch 12 gauge can only hold 18 00 pellets, let alone a 20 ga. holding 20 000 pellets.

00 buckshot, which is .33" Again, that's using 3.5 inch magnum loads. Can you post a link to the site where it's shown, please?

It's not that I'm saying you're lying; I'm just saying that I haven't heard of that before.

Yep, my long-range rifle is a Ruger No. 1 .45-70gvmt

With that much bullet, I don't need more than one at a time.

Even if I miss, from the range I would use that rifle for, I still have plenty of time to chamber another round. Do you find this valuable?

I think you are confusing number 3 buckshot with 000 buckshot
Number 3 buckshot is about 25 cal. while 000 is 36...I believe 000 is the largest size buckshot you can easly buy and is not sold in 20 gauge shells

A single shot is better then nothing but lots better guns to choose from. I sure don't see any reason to pick a single shot over a repeating firearm

Womule, before calling someone a smart ass, link a picture showing you cramming twenty thirty caliber pellets into a twenty gauge shell, magnum or otherwise.

That's double O buck in a 12 gauge shell. So I'd have to call B-S on your claim. Probably No 3. buck, as Filadog said. Or possibly No .4, which tends to be the most popular load for self defense.
