Anyone planning on using a single shot?
Mar 8 2010, 8:51 PM EST
I recently grew to like my Rossi SS .22 rifle. Accounting for the time it takes to load my Marlin Model 60 completely, and clear the jams, they average out to roughly the same fire rate. This brings me to my question. Is there anyone who is planning on their main weapon being a single-shot rifle or shotgun? If so, can you explain why? Thanks. Do you find this valuable? |

As long as you practice with it, you'll probably be fine. How many 000 pellets can a 20 ga. hold? *Has a mental image of Ash with the SS in Evil Dead.* Do you find this valuable? |

My Ruger No.1, 25-06 is a single shot rifle, and it's accuracy at long ranges is unparalleled. Is it my only weapon? Not by a long shot (forgive the pun.) It's a niche weapon.

"all the 20 ga. 000 Buckshot shells im finding say around 20 pellets per shell."That can't be right. My 3.5 inch 12 gauge can only hold 18 00 pellets, let alone a 20 ga. holding 20 000 pellets. Do you find this valuable? |

"thats what is advertised. what size are the pellets in yout 12 gauge?"00 buckshot, which is .33" Again, that's using 3.5 inch magnum loads. Can you post a link to the site where it's shown, please? It's not that I'm saying you're lying; I'm just saying that I haven't heard of that before. Do you find this valuable? |

Yep, my long-range rifle is a Ruger No. 1 .45-70gvmt With that much bullet, I don't need more than one at a time. Do you find this valuable? |

Even if I miss, from the range I would use that rifle for, I still have plenty of time to chamber another round.

I think you are confusing number 3 buckshot with 000 buckshotNumber 3 buckshot is about 25 cal. while 000 is 36...I believe 000 is the largest size buckshot you can easly buy and is not sold in 20 gauge shells A single shot is better then nothing but lots better guns to choose from. I sure don't see any reason to pick a single shot over a repeating firearm Do you find this valuable? |

"i own 000 buck in 20 gauge. i have it for home defenseWomule, before calling someone a smart ass, link a picture showing you cramming twenty thirty caliber pellets into a twenty gauge shell, magnum or otherwise. http://images.outdoorinteractive.net/mgen/288040_d.jpg http://www.deltagearinc.com/ShotgunFacts/GaugeChart.jpg That's double O buck in a 12 gauge shell. So I'd have to call B-S on your claim. Probably No 3. buck, as Filadog said. Or possibly No .4, which tends to be the most popular load for self defense. Do you find this valuable? |
