Post-Apocalyptic Fashion
Mar 10 2010, 12:47 PM EST
In the Armor thread I posted that I was inspired to make a thread on Post Apocalyptic attire....so here it is.First things first, There is no 'in' style or correct fashion, this is here to pretty much get an idea of what our fellow Survivors'll look like. Also, please refrain from posting armor or LBE, go to the Armor or LBE threads and post it there instead. Lastly, don't insult others for their picks in attire, it only shows you're jealous of their style and don't have enough awesome to pull it off ;-P Now, to the beer and bacon: *Headwear: Black or drab fatigue cap, OD wool Balaclava *Torso: Black tees, drab, black or tan safari shirts, plaid Western shirts, hoodies, German tunics [non parade type] *Bottoms: Cargoes, camo cargoes, de-chained Tripp pants *Footwear: Paratrooper boots, hiking boots, skate shoes made for regular wear [arching, cushioning, quality construction] *Coats: Charcoal pea coat, Russian greatcoat, M-65 parka, any drab or non Desert or non digi-camo camouflage anorak I can find *Accessories: black terrycloth wristbands, black Industrial wristband, Aviator sunglasses, Sun+wind+dust goggles, fingerless gloves, German boot gaiters [great in the Winter], leather or web belt, 4151 Dog Tag necklace, 2x gunmetal 16g hoop earrings [left ear] and my trusty tan bandanna How about the rest of you? 5 out of 5 found this valuable. "go with a black one the black tee shirts thats a give in im also gonna keep my long sleeve dio shirt that was gotten at a dio concert in the 80 fingerless gloves with metal studded knuckles sunglasses and some piercing"Hey i agree with you about most of the stuff like the dechained tripp pant it would not be functional for running or fighting against zombies if you were triping over the tripp pants lol i would just go with my trusty leather trench its strong and sturdy and pretty tear resintant. i would also go for army pants and millitary boots boots are tough light-wieght and steel toe good for kicking a couple of zombie skulls in whoha lol i would also keep my fav pair of jeans the bandanna though once again id 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Headwear: My hijab of course. But I'm not sure what color I should go for. Probably black because it hides dirt best. And black is an all-purpose color and is good for any occasion. My hair would be braided, and the scarf would come off if it got in the way.Top: Nursing bra and a long sleeve pajama top. They offer a lot of room for movement, and really don't look like pjs. I just wish I could get them in black, for the same reason above. Also my husband's Nike fit dry t-shirts, grey, short-sleeved. Bottom: A skirt, most likely, because it's what I have, and a couple of slips underneath during cold weather. I don't own any pants. Although a pair of men's cargos, if I could find some that would fit, would be handy. I'd wear them instead if I could find them. And panty hose, because, believe it or not, they really work for keeping your legs warm when the weather turns bitter. Footwear: I wear my husband's motorcycle boots for outside work, although they are too big for me. I love them. And since I' have requested a pair for myself, I'd be wearing those. I fear sandels will be a thing of the past come z-day, so I have no plans for any. Plain old cotton socks, wool for the winter months. My running shoes would go with me as well. Coat: A plain, black, wool coat that I've had for years. A knit sweater for cool weather. Leather gloves. Other stuff: Wrist braces for carpal tunnel. Glasses. My blue sapphire tennis bracelet that my husband gave me and I love. Kudos to the fashion man. :) Do you find this valuable? |

Having read some interesting discussions on camoflauge, I'm going to stay away from Tacticool Black. You would be better off with a mix of dark colours, mostly green, brown, grey and blue.

"Headwear: My hijab of course. But I'm not sure what color I should go for. Probably black because it..."I have a Desert Tan Shemagh I intend on using in the Colder weather. Maybe a Dark Tan or Brown would be better? Brown's a Natural color & catches the eye less... Do you find this valuable? |

There is, as some of you probably know, two "fashion" styles for me: Pre-Panic, and Post-Panic.The reason for this is that during the uneasiness phase of The Panic I don't want to be covered in "tactical gear" that might solicit a negative response from the already-worried general public. I want to look normal and "civilian" so I might go about my business as inconspicuously as possible. However, once the Infection hits, I want a more functional outfit, and could care less that my tac-vest and drop leg holster are going to "scare" people. Pre-Infection: * Leather Wolverine work boots with heavy socks - comfy and functional. * Dickies Carpenter Jeans - functional but normal looking, and the pockets fit my multitool, knife, and flashlight * T-shirt * Mechanic's jacket - thick and protective, but inconspicuous. * "Home Depot Racing" baseball cap * Sunglasses Post-Infection: * Response Gear Tactical hightop boots with thick socks - great tread and support, can wear all day * BDU-style cargo pants in either Desert, Urban, or Woodland camo pattern * Kneepads * Black t-shirt, long sleeve black Underarmor if it is cold * Desert tan Camelbak Delta 5 Tactical Hydration vest with MOLLE straps Includes shotgun scabbard, machete scabbard, cross-draw holster, mag pouches, shotshell pouches, first aid kit, admin kit, and miscellaneous pouches. * Right side MOLLE Drop-leg rig with pouches for radio, flashlight, and knife * Left side Combat Master knife sheath for KA-BAR with pouch for Leatherman * Watch cap or do-rag * WileyX goggles, shemagh OR Israeli gas mask. * Gloves And finally, a "laid-back" style, for when in camp: * Great-kilt and shirt * Good pair of boots 2 out of 2 found this valuable.
