Either an alternative to or accessory for tactical gear.

While there is always talk of the latest tacticool stuff, I always try to find cheaper alternatives. And, this time, I may've found something useful.

Carpenter's tool belts. They distribute weight to your waist instead of your back, and have open pockets for quick access (such as dropping in empty mags without having to snap anything open.).

In addition, many have a holder for a hammer, which is a decent weapon in itself (though the holder could easily be adapted.) Many of my relatives are in construction, and they use them a lot. So, it seems like they can hold a lot of gear.

The only drawback would be noise, though you get that with any gear. Also, since the pcokets are open, some things may fall out. As lon as you don't hang upside down, you'd probably be okay.

Anyone else that uses these belts, can you tell me what you think?

i personally wouldnt recommend anything with open pockets because stuff would fall out if and when you had to run for whatever reason. Do you find this valuable?

True. If the pckets are deep enough, it may work, but...

the best thing you can do is load one up with the kinds of things you would have with you and take it for a test run.

make sure you run up and down stairs, jump and or climb over chain link fences of different sizes, climb through windows.

those are alll the kind of things you will might have to do after zday.

Yeah. I was actually planning on trying that this weekend; I'll let you know how it went. (I'm being serious.)
I was going to:
Sprint for as far as I can.
Jump over a picket fence.
Climb a tree
Drive a car.
Do similar things.

Some of them do actually have closed pockets; I just don't own one.

thats fnny i actually had been thinking bout this for a while because all the pockets i thought it would be gret i actually modified one to carry a hammer, two crowbars, and made closed tops for pockets, akso shaped pockeets to fit things better, like mags, etc
