"Most modern buckshot, at about 150 yards, will disperse abut as much as your outstretched fingers. Bit of an inaccuracy."150 yards? Really? Type "shotguns" into the search box. Do you find this valuable? |

Nowhere in the article does it mention range. The only problem with the article is saying that shooting both barrels will knock you down. I'm 5'7", 125 lbs., and I've done it. I'm not saying it was a breeze; but if you lean into is it is possible to do without extreme difficulty. Do you find this valuable? |

A couple years ago I had a major who was hardcore backwoods Alabama. I will never forget what he used to always say to me.Maj. Lundy (in a deep southern, monotone twang) - "Higginbotham, yer bout as useful as a bowl-a t!ts." 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Most modern buckshot, at about 150 yards, will disperse abut as much as your outstretched fingers. Bit of an inaccuracy."with the proper setup ( $300-$400) you can achieve upwards of 250 yards with high quality slugs. They are expensive and require a specific barrel but the shotgun can be one of the most effectie all-around guns. I own a .338 win mag and would quite possibly choose the shorter range of the shotgun over the 1000+ yard range of the rifle. Much easier to shoot and if you know how to use it, can be just as effective at midranges Do you find this valuable? |

Doesn't the range a shotgun gets and how much it disperses at that range depend on the choke?

You can do all sorts of things with a shotgun depending on the barrel and the ammunition. I've heard of people being able to shoot slugs at 200+ yards. But to be honest I wouldn't want to depend on your average shotgun beyond 100 yards, if that.Really, I wouldn't count on your average shotgun past 50 yards with buckshot. Say what ya want but if you're counting on making shots up to and over 100 yards on a regular basis just buy a rifle. Do you find this valuable? |

"Doesn't the range a shotgun gets and how much it disperses at that range depend on the choke?"It's safe to say that no matter choke you use, it spreads out more than the size of your hands at 150 yards. Do you find this valuable? |
