lett me start off by saying I love the idea of thinking out side the box it is what could one day save the human race from being flesh loveing wallking sakes of decaying crap. and any thing i say i say not to be mean or insulting.
p.s. i have A-D-D and disleksya so wrighting is a pain.
That said I will begin

In large part i don't suport fire as a wepon agenst zeds.

nerf flame throwers are no-no-s hears why
1. the d--- things leek like sives.
2. fuel or any type petrol or alchol in z-day is worth its wate in gold becaus it is so hard to find and/or produce.
3. it leeks and the posibility of a small streem down yourhand as you blow it on a zed is inevitabole and at best you got a small problem at worst you could start a forest fire or fire on the open plans and thin not only do you have to worry about the fire you now atrakted every zed in a good 20 mile arya. and that means your problems have just been compounded so MOVE YOUR A$.
4. the thing is bulky and clumsy so if you for what ever reason have to have a flame thrower learn how to make one out of a p-- r--, --- -i--, the strogest glue/coking you can find, a --------- for the fuel, a -------, a small saw, a drill, and a nice roll of duct tape for safety and dont for get to have the proper fire exstigwisher handy for the fule/fire in exsistence and eather adult supervishion or possibly even the athoritys notifyed and present if you ever test the thing PLEAS DO NOT BUILD the damn. yes i know i am a dick to have bloted out most of the directions most of wich are all over the internet but i dont want even one person heart by makeing the thing and i would feel guilty if i was to just hand over the info that easa
4.1. sorry I digress
5. even in the city there is plenty of flamibule debrey that can start a new Chicago fire.
6. if the the theary of light and heat shuting the zed down momentaraly fire works could do the same thing safer easer and

I didn't read the whole thing, but I got your point.

Aside from safety issues, I think super soaker flamethrowers are a bad idea because they don't work like a proper flamethrower is supposed to.

A proper flamethrower's fuel is very viscous. Basically a runny gel. The purpose of this is when you shoot something with it, the fuel sticks to the target and continues to burn, which also allows the fire to spread on its target.

Super soakers can't handle a fluid more viscous than water, therefor you have to use pure alcohol/gasolines/etc to achieve a flame. These fuels burn quickly, so if you shoot a target with it, it will burn up before it does any sort of damage. Try this scenario. You spray someone in the face with a flamethrower that shoots just gas. When you take your finger off the trigger, all you really did was give him a little sunburn and singe their eyebrows off.

Paint guns and garden sprayers will handle a viscous fluid, so if you are dead set on making a flamethrower, use one of them. And don't make your napalm with packing peanuts and foam, it burns horribly and is hard to light. Diesel mixed with silica gel works best.
