TARGET DETAILS:
Any 9" standard paper plate sized target or common 100 yard target is acceptable. The targets used by various participants in the March Rifle Match are acceptable for this shoot. Also, in the very near future, I will post two different ZSDW-Themed silhouette targets that can be printed on standard 8.5"x11" printer paper to be used at your local firing range. The latter is preferable!

If you firing range does not permit the use of silhouette style targets, please use an appropriate alternative as outlined above. If no practical alternative is available, please PM LJ126 with your concern before April 20th. Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis.

EXTRA POINTS: Shooters that fit the pistol used in the match into their target image - along with the other target requisites from Rules 5 & 6 - will receive a little bit extra kudos from me personally. Besides, it's an opportunity to brag about your favorite handgun!

FINAL NOTE:
Please keep discussion on this thread (meaning EVERY reply) ON TOPIC and to the point, and in the spirit of this informal shooting tourney. We had some issues with this in the last match that will not be tolerated again. While congratulatory or teasing is definitely permitted - and maybe even hoped for - discussion that is viewed as counter-productive, off-topic or harassing will result in the removal of violating post/s and possible disqualification of the offending contributor.

This is AlexHigginbotham, I had to make an alternate login for work because government computers dont allow facebook logins and WP has prevented people on smart phones from logging in using a facebook login as well.

Can I submit 2 targets from 2 different pistols?

Certainly! I plan on submitting a few myself too. I will probably submit two or three, as later on I can use the images in conjunction with reviews that I plan on doing once things get "figured out" here at the ZSDW...

If I may ask, what handguns are you planning on using? I'm rolling in old school - probably one of my CCW guns, a Bulgarian Makarov PM, and my Ruger P89.

I'll be using the FN Five-seveN (obviously) and my Taurus 605 .357 mag.

7-10 yards for the .357 should give me an inch group or so, but it might be a little to close for the FN. I might post 2 targets for the Five-seveN, one from 10 and one from 30.

I will totally be entering a target as soon as I can get out to the range again. I will be shooting my 9mm Glock 17...which is the only handgun I own. I'm more of a rifle person but I understand the importance of haveing a good quality sidearm. Do you find this valuable?

This is the one I've been waiting for. I think it's time to let that Beretta Neos I picked up show what it's worth :) I'll give it a go with a couple of others but the Neos is my most accurate handgun. Do you find this valuable?

It's very bizarre feeling initially, but once you get used to the sights, it's uncanny how accurate it is.

I've seen a few at the range. I want to get a .22LR target pistol (for cheep target practice)but I can't decide between a Ruger Mark III or this new Neos. Is one better than the other? If so...why?

Don't steal it, borrow it. Make sure to get her permission first - better yet, ask her if you can both go shoot it. Taking her gun is a little bit different than "borrowing" a few bucks out of her purse, ya know?

Alright guys, I've made a "zombie-esque" target for us to use, but there are some issues with it.

First and foremost, it is a cheap rip off of the ZS postal match target. In fact, I just removed their tag from their image and posted credit to them and a simple ZSDW banner. Is it cheap? Yes. Is it fair? Not really. Are we going to get into trouble for it? NO - None of us are making any profit out of this match, except for our evil advertisement placing, property rights thieving service provider, Wetpaint....

Second issue: The "target" part of the printable target is rather small. In fact, it's much smaller than ideal. However, since we're not playing by score (in fact, we're not really competing - this is just for grins and gabs), this is somewhat a moot point. You're free to use the zombie target, or any other appropriate target as outlined in the rules.

Thirdly - you'll have to PM me with your email address to get the image file, because if I uploaded it to the site, the size of the image would be horribly distorted. You may have to tweak the settings in whatever program you plan to print the image from - I used Microsoft's simple "Paint" program, but I had to adjust the page setup settings - specifically, the "Scaling" and "Margins" sections. If you do things the way I did, you'll want to set the scale to "Fit To:" 1 by 1 pages, and the margins all need to be reduced to 0.25 inches (or less.) There are other ways to get around this scaling issue, and you may need to do a lot of print tweaks to get things to work for you.

~LJ126
PS - If you'd like to use a normal 100 yard target, a paper plate, or whatever your local firing range uses, feel free to do so. Make sure to follow the rules posted at the beginning of this thread though!

EDIT TO ABOVE:

The match doesn't start until April 10th - targets won't be e-mailed until then. For those of you who've sent requests, make sure to remind me to send one to you once the match starts. If you'd like to get a printable version of an identical target, visit:
