Trust Scenario
Apr 17 2010, 2:49 AM EDT
Alright, you primitive screwheads, listen up! I have another scenario for 'yall! You are running a well-kept base of 8 survivors. It's only a week or two after Z-Day, so you're living off MREs and the food (AKA ****) you got from a nearby gas station. You are decently armed, with mulitple rifles and melee weapons and one submachine gun. You have only met one party of 5 survivors asking for some of your food, and you turned them down. One very stormy night, a bunch of people (3) come to your base with nothing but an ammo can and a 9mm Glock. They ask you if they can stay the night in return for their ammo (which is for your guns plus some odd calibers, minus 9mm). You decide to accept and it looks smooth. However, when they are paying you, someone sees that your "armory" is missing... -A box of Remmington 40 ammo -Two boxes of .30-30 ammo -A box of 12 gauge ammo -the SMG (a Skorpion, 7.65mm) -A Kevlar vest You confront the trio about the theft. They finally admit that they had to "pay off a debt to some raiders that were holding some of their party hostage." You notice that, although the one weapon (the Skorpion) that they took was a caliber that they didn't take. You are the leader of your group, so you decide what to do. I hope you all like the scenario; have fun!!!! Do you find this valuable? |

Although my first instinct would be to take our stuff, and their stuff, and kick them out to the mercy of the zombies, there's an opportunity for an ally here, and a bit of morality.Obviously, if these 3 people are able to approach you, the raiders are. These raiders are a threat to your group. By the sounds of it, they are well armed, and you might be able to make this scenario profitable by eliminating them (something that, in this Z-Day scenario, would not be expected), rescuing these hostages, and sending this band on their merry way. However, this trio may not be the innocents they're claiming to be... (assuming the raider group is 6-8) 1. Ready a team of 6, plus the 3 would-be thieves, as an assault party. All of my men are armed as well as they can be, plus 1 extra rifle. However, the 3 thieves are not returned their weapon, although we bring it and their ammo can. We take a CB radio with us to stay in contact with the base, in case we were lured out. As my extended bug-out bag contains 2 handheld CB radios, and there's a CB antenna on my car, it's feasible to say I've put the antenna on the highest point I can. The two guys back at the base are on high alert to radio us as soon as anything turns up. 2. We find out from the trio where the raiders are working out of, observe the area and their base, and work out where/how many people there are, and where the hostages are. 3. The trio is sent in with their glock, the ammo can, and the rifle. However, neither guns have ammunition in them. The trio is instructed to hand over the rifle as a part of their debt, supposedly stolen from an 'unorganized party of survivors'. While this takes place, our men are getting into position to take out the raiders. One man sneaks in close to where the hostages are, and gets ready to take out the guard if there is one. If not, he quietly gets the hostages ready to go. Do you find this valuable? |

4. We strike, eliminating the raiders as quickly as possible. We then recover what we can, take all their supplies, commandeer a vehicle if one exists, and hit the road with the trio and hostages in tow, returning to our base. After a once-over of our own base to ensure our other two guys haven't got guns to their head, we return to the base.5. Now, depending on my group's consensus, we either let the new folks stay with us, or we send them off. If we all feel they're trustworthy, we absorb them. Otherwise, we politely tell them to buzz off. By the sounds of it, they're baseless - they may quite likely choose to hole up in the raiders base. If this is the case, we can keep a close eye on them and intervene (with lead) if they decide that's the life for them. If they don't head there, the base is a further expansion possibility. Nice solution, Quickrace! I really like the idea of helping them. However, maybe you should instruct the guys without ammo to take cover!

Well, I ask some questions about the raiders. If we aren't too outnumbered or outgunned, we all go try to take them down, but not before a make a plan (and a plan b). I can't say the specifics unless I knew about the raiders and the local terrain. Certainly a surprize attack without mercy. Of course, if the raiders were too strong...I'd have to try anyway because I'm in such a pickle if I just let them take my stuff to the raiders that I don't even want to think about it. I take the raiders good stuff. Do you find this valuable? |
