I can see where your coming from but...

Except in arizona schools are laid out differently and plus I'm Probably luckier than most. my plan involved Camelback highschool. CBHS is sourounded by a seven foot fence and is split even further with fences inside of the perimeter fence. the floorplan of most of the buildings has a window from the hall into the classrooms which are basic open single rooms. so with that in mind the securing of buildings would be relatively easy. all entrances to each building are visible from the front excluding two in the back. with a bare minimum of six people gaurding the entrances that would leave 11 people. five more guarding the main perimeter i'd still have six guys to search all three floors two people too a floor and at the very most it would take 15 minutes to ensure the building was clear. With all 17 people there securing my school would be relatively easy not including the other 16 people who might also be there. also if other people were to have the same plan and show up at the school it would be relativley easy to take charge of the situation as I Have 2 modified SKS's,one Mini 14, three M1911's, 3 shotguns,a .357, and a few .22's. and my friend also has Four AK-47's (illegally which is why I never go to his house) Two M-14's, and five M1911's. so chances are we'd win any fire fight.(yes we know how to use them). also who said we were just gonna sit there without going out every now and then for provisions. we don't plan on there being any food there so yeah. oh and my friend is an Irish immigrant who has a bit of I.R.A. training 0  out of 2 found this valuable. It really comes down to the individual school. Some schools are laid out more appropriately for fortification than others. Some have backup generators to run certain systems. Some even have workshops. I think it really comes down to the individual situation. Personally, I would not try to fortify my Highschool because of the sheer amount of glass on the outside. Without a floorplan it is difficult to comment, however consider that every window, regular door and fire door is apossible entrance. Also, it will take more than two people per floor to safely clear any building. Do you find this valuable?

ok so I gues including all the windows it would be 20 some except the building is in 2 squarish U shapes side by side so most entrances are within 10 yards and are visible from a certain point except the potential of zombies getting in the school perimeter is HIGHLY unlikely. and the floors could easily be searched because there is literally be nowhere to hide which was probably intended by the architect. Well as said above, it comes down to each individual place. My college library, for example, used to be a military bunker. It would work great.

The sorry truth is that MOST schools are not cut out for survival.

8000 and 3000 only connect at the second floor and the 2000 and 3000 have offices and teachers lounge area in the middle of the first floor essentially the only place to hide.

unless you have military trained war vets, like me and most of family, we could just sit on top and pick everybody off. But most chain fences can be torn down(see ritors and rez evil movies) and most schools are way to big to secure, unless you have a platoon with you. Do you find this valuable?

What career you chose in life doesn't make a stupid place to reside, any smarter. Thats like saying that rushing to wal-mart during the panic is smarter because you were in the Military...Its just not true.

Schools are bad because they tend to be big, have many entrences, be littered with people, and have many windows. Sure, you could POSSIBLY make it safer..But is it really worth it?

My new highschool they built when i was a junior would be great to fortify. If you think about it, they build high schools like frigging fortresses now. The only low glass was the front doors, and they were all lexane. All windows were around neck height from the outside. All the doors were heavy and had a small foyer with another door, causing you to go through 2 doors at any given time while entering or exiting the building.

Its these damn kids I guess. Can't stop causing trouble like playing army men or cops and robbers. Must be the MTV.

Having a platoon of men with you (and i doubt you could procure a fully weaponized platoon of men) doesn't make a bad choice any better. Anything like a school, made for large amount of people to be moving everywhere at once, and being inside for long periods of time, is probably a bad choice for Zpoc.

Many inner-city High schools are like that. If you are trapped in a city it's not a bad place to go, especially if you know the school.

thats just my view.
