Evective Methods of Bugging Out
Apr 23 2010, 7:29 AM EDT
I would have a bag ready, with a Kel-Tec RFB,Kimber Custom 10mm Auto,Aimpoint BiNocs,Kevlar Vest,Non-Persishable food, warm socks, hiking boots,a cold steel USA machete,ZT301 knive and Water Bottle and NavMan GPS.Regardless of what you decide to have, make sure you have water, food, clothes and maps. You must ensure the safety of your family(If you have one) by making sure they are all ready and packed, then getting into a motor vehicle(I use Nissan Patrol) ans get the hell out. YOU WILL NOT LAST LONG ON FOOT!!! 0 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

"YOU WILL NOT LAST LONG ON FOOT!!!"Depends, I'd last longer on foot if I was heading through a forest than if I tried to drive a automotive through the trees... 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Depends, I'd last longer on foot if I was heading through a forest than if I tried to drive a automotive through the trees..."I agree, it depends on many factors. It depends on how in shape you are, if you are hydrating or not, if you have people with you that are capable or incapable, depends on the pending doom (whatever it may be), depends on the zombie type, how much are you carrying, and the list goes on. More land was conquered and freed by foot than any other method. Do you find this valuable? |

"More land was conquered and freed by foot than any other method."That's because the combustion engine is still in it's relative infancy. Do you find this valuable? |

"That's because the combustion engine is still in it's relative infancy. "while Infantry is geriatric EDIT: is 'evective' more effective or a better method of bugging out than a regular, plain old evac? 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"That's because the combustion engine is still in it's relative infancy. "It's not only that, it is because a land vehicle can not go everywhere. I believe it is both motorized land transportation and the combustion engine are still in its infancy or something we have not developed yet like anti-grav + propulsion belts or gear. And one other thing we have to remember, not everyone is in the military and/or military hardware is not currently available to them so we are slipping into the tacticool. A standard 4x4 will be hard pressed to get through traffic filled highways unless they are Big Foot or something similar and densely forested\bush areas. Do you find this valuable? |

"That's because the combustion engine is still in it's relative infancy. "The internal-combustion engine might still be in it's infancy...but it's going to starve to death soon when the 'Food' runs out...look-up: Peak Oil. And as someone who has never bothered to get his drivers license, I'm more than happy on foot in any environment and am happy to continue that way. I would have a horse post-Z-day but more for carrying gear than for riding (Christopher Reeves wasn't so Super after his accident was he...now imagine dying in a ditch post-Z-day because Mr Ed broke your back.), and my preffered method of travel in an urban environment is the bicycle...it's been proven that crossing London in Morning Rush-Hour is more effective by bicycle, then motor-boat, public transport, and finally the car. Now imagine if the traffic isn't moving? Now picture the bike messenger hitting 20mph through the crammed streets without a care in the world (until he hits my fishing wire strung at head height and then I get his gear and his bike...Mwuahahaha!) "The internal-combustion engine might still be in it's infancy...but it's going to starve to death soon when the 'Food' runs out...look-up: Peak Oil.Auckland City rarely experiences bad traffic,so many different routes. I would use a bicycle if no fuel was available or if I was without a vehicle. It only uses up human energy, which is in turn re-generated with food and water. If on foot, your more vunerable to raiders and hordes of undead. Do you find this valuable? |

If you're stuck in traffic with with drivers being pulled from the cars behind you and in front of you you're going to wish you stayed at home.

"If on foot, your more vunerable to raiders and hordes of undead."On foot I can hear a lot better, don't have blind spots and can stop and change direction on a dime, climb up and down buildings, hide, and I am a much smaller target. Do you find this valuable? |

There's only one way to get out of my area...*throws on Jean jacket and bag, straps on machette and puts on paintball mask and work boots* RUN!!!!!!! In the city you won't get very far in a Nissan either. The highways and any exits will be a major cluster ****. Do you find this valuable? |

"If you're stuck in traffic with with drivers being pulled from the cars behind you and in front of you you're going to wish you stayed at home."That's when a motorbike comes in handy. But I wouldn't want to use my dirt bike and be pulled off it. If I was stuck in traffic, which I wouldn't because I would take the back routes,I would just turn around and get onto my boat at the mariner and see if I can get around the city. "If you're stuck in traffic with with drivers being pulled from the cars behind you and in front of you you're going to wish you stayed at home."No. I am going to engage my air-shift front axle locker and throw my 6x6 transfer case in Low range. Then I'm going to shove the cars in front of me with my massive steel winch bumper. But then again, I suppose not everyone is going to be driving a M35A2 either :) 2 out of 2 found this valuable. "No but going 100KMH in a city with bodies, rubble and wreckage piling up doesn't seem to be good conditions for a large truck."Auckland Cities Motorways are seperated from large structures, only surrounded by houses and water. With so many lanes,I could go 100KMH on the onramp and offramps. Besides, since a zombie is basically brain-dead,I would feel safer with a locked door. If on foot, your easy prey, since many will be as agile as you..... Do you find this valuable? |

"No. I am going to engage my air-shift front axle locker and throw my 6x6 transfer case in Low range.I would just stick my Patrol in 4x4 mode(O/D as well) and maybe fit some metal bars(sharpened) onto the front, probably alluminium so if I crash into something,it will just bend an act as a sort of brake.
