This pistol match doesn't help survival

What needs to be considered is that in a survival situation you are not going to be able to stand in a weaver or isosceles stance and shoot head shots forever. You NEED to know how to shoot on the move, shoot a target that is moving, and shoot on the move at a moving target. Shooting on the move is important cause gun fights with marauders trying to get your supplies or invading hoards of zombies are not going to stand in one spot and let you shoot them in the head. Zombies maybe stupid, but are driven by the hunger for brains and WILL MOVE. Also, people trying to get your stuff are going to show no mercy since you have a gun and they can kill you and use your guns and ammo. This pistol match is not helpful. What people need to consider is attending an IDPA or IPSC match. This follows the same credo as your match about sites, stances, etc. but freedom of movement, drawing your gun, and engaging MULTIPLE targets is necessary and apart of the game. You have to be 21 years of age to attend an IDPA or IPSC match without an adult, but you can be under that age with adult supervision. To get info on these matches google IDPA or IPSC and you'll get more info. You DO NOT want to just start shooting on the move without talking to people who have done this. At the range that I attend on a weekly basis, a man, unfamiliar with shooting and moving, was doing this without consulting a pro. He shot himself in the leg and bled out in something like 5 min. IT IS DANGEROUS! Another thing is 7 to 10 yards is too close to show people who are truly skilled with a handgun, push it back to a min. of 25 yards this will show people the flaws in their shooting fundamentals. If your going to make people stand there, push the targets back. This will help people become better marksmen and KNOW THEIR WEAPON. I understand that this is for fun, but realism needs to be considered. 0  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

Well thank god you're here because this whole time I thought enemies were going to stand perfectly still while I tried for a head shot. You said it yourself: THIS IS FOR FUN. This has nothing to do with survival, it's just a friendly competition. Welcome to the site. 5  out of 5 found this valuable. Do you?

you mean something like this:

http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/thread/3714556/Accuracy+Experiment%2FPractice

or is that too impractical for you? not 'survival' related enough?

what's your big idea? spend $ to attend an IPSC match?

Ha, whoring your own threads again I see. Anyway, this FNG thinks he's the only one with practical experience using firearms. He'll learn soon enough.

@JK: I appreciate the intent, but as others have said, the match we're holding is a friendly e-competition and not a 'survival match.'

Thread locked for OP's misunderstanding of match and potential argument in the near future prevention.

To add to Green's post:

We're ALL aware of the fact that moving and shooting is important (DUH!), but we can't really host a moving-and-shooting type event on the net - unless everyone on the site had a digital camcorder....

The whole point of this "match" is to get our guys out shooting, not to "help survival." I would hope that our site's visitors would have enough common sense to figure that out, but then again, someone might be trying to peddle their videos again....

Relocked.
