Rescue Party Scenario

I have a question for all ZSDW users that read this. Complete this scenario.You are inside your BOL in the radio room. A frantic message comes through your scanner. You adjust the dial to stay on that channel to listen. There is a group of 6 people trapped in a location within the reach of your base. They were running from a group of 15+ zeds and can't run anymore, The group consists of 2 men with .22 bolt action rifles. One of them has an old revolver with two rounds left. With the men are 3 women armed with whatever was in reach as they ran from their homes. One of the women has an injured leg and had to be carried by the men. The last one in the group is a 7 year old child who is in shock from seeing his mother being devoured by his father. The question is what would you do? Would you stay in the safety of your BOL, or would you send a scouting party to find them and bring them back? If you were to pick the latter, what would your loadout be? What vehicle(s) would you take? I know this is a bit of an off the wall scenario, but I am new and this is the best I could think of. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Welcome to the site, glad to have you.On topic: I would probably leave them. Not to be heartless or anything but they may have already been bitten. That said, risking my friends and families lives to help strangers, that might be worthless anyway, is not to my liking. Just my answer. I don't think my fellow survivors would listen to that reasoning though. Pity for any human life, especially at an apocalyptic level, is very strong. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Welcome to the site, glad to have you.Thank you for the welcome! I would have to agree with you. One of them may have been infected even if they don't know it at the time. If the 7 year old happened to be the one it would be even more of an emotional strain on your friends and family. Not to mention the people travelling with him. Do you find this valuable? |

I would not risk it whatsoever. They are most likely infected, so I'd rather not take the chance. Other than that, that means more mouths to feed and my supplies are for me/my group ONLY.

Well, if the number was 15 ~ 20 zeds, then I'd gear up the Honda and get the 6 people to hop in as fast as possible. Then I'd get them back to base ASAP. In the car, someone would be waiting with a .38 caliber revolver. On the way back we would check for bites; anyone with a bite would be shot in the head.If there were more than 20 zeds, I would make sure to hunker down in the base (they might come after us!) and then, the next day, mop up. And welcome to the site; you look like a decent non-troll! ^_^ Do you find this valuable? |

welcome friend. great post +1knowing me, curiosity might kill the cat, here. it really depends on how far they are. if theyre just down the street or at the next block, i might be like: "alright sure". If I were to help them, i'd overwatch first. Don't be a hero - atleast not right away. Watch and assess the issue first before jumping into it like lone wolf and leave it to beaver. If they're caught in a hopeless situation... might not be worth the salt to try and free them. 700,000 zombies in my area, would six more really make a difference? mind you also, messages like this will probably be sent out frequently. also beware cause it could be a raider trap. "oh help us, please!!! we're out of ammo and we're runnin from zombies". Leaves room for powerful groups to stroll by and walk into ambushes and stuff, thus leaving them not so powerful. 15 zeds (depending what kind) might not even be much of an issue and *maybe* i could help out... I would overwatch to see who they are, but if its hopeless... eff that. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

What I want to know is how where there women and children in your area of operation and they weren't already located in your stronghold? It all depends really but if it was day time I would be out there in a flash. I am on a military installation though so we have uparmored humvees and LMTV Trucks lol
