We need Fuel...
May 11 2010, 7:30 PM EDT | Post edited: May 11 2010, 7:30 PM EDT
I've found that few of those bringing vehicles are willing to part with any fuel. Our current fleet is mostly heavy vehicles, humvee, the M35, and the like. They're diesel gas guzzlers and we're not going to just find extra fuel. I know alternate electricity is being constructed, but we don't have the resources to convert all these vehicles to a delicate electrical system.

I'm thinking something along the lines of biofuel. If we can find a way to produce biodiesel, we'd be in the green. Until then, we've only got the gas in the tanks to work with, and that ain't much...

See if you guys can find such components. If you can find gasoline, propane, great. We need those for heating, cooking and sterilizing. Post whatever you find on this thread.

Wells? In the middle of a mountain range? Sounds pretty far fetched to me. We'd need the know-how and equipment to pump it up to ground level, too.

Stryker says he has both, but I don't know...

I have four propane tanks in the trailer, not brimmed, but still got a good amount in them. Take them.

There are billions od way to make biodiesel

Centrifugal force on crude comes to mind if those wells actually exist and can still pump.

I wish i could say algae was an option, however we dont have a few chemicals and equipment we would need to get biodiesel, oil is easy, its turning into porper diesel that is hard...

Notice in the "Scavenging" thread I posted a map of local petroleum wells and the fact that I had a Centrifugal Refiner on the M35.

And that of the wells that are nearby, only two are operational. Of those two, one is close enough and has enough piping to run a pipeline to the settlement where we can set up the refinery and the tank for fuel.

Until we get that set up, there still should be plenty of the fuel in the 1000 gallon tank on my Peterbilt.

Or we could run tanker convoys down there as a stopgap measure until it is constructed. One hell of a commute though. Could you inventory the fuel available for outpost consumption and add it to the storehouse record?

Hey, John. I brought 10 gallons of gas I don't need in my truck. Not much, but it'll help. Do you find this valuable?

Ok, I'm bringing in an all-out assault truck (I'll add specs later) so I'll part with 1000 gallons of diesel. Also, I have fuel pumps to transport all the fuel in and out, so I can give you some spares to help inject fuel. 0  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Start mapping out railroad fueling staions, most are outside cities. Less chance of becoming a feast. 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
