Explosive

This is a bit complicated. When sodium and potassium mix together in water, the compound explodes violently. This would work for taking out raiders: a tripwire in their store could drop the sodium/potassium mix, and you could cover the floor with their own water, or wait until the place floods. Oxygen/propane/butane tanks could add to the explosion and flames. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I think you are overestimating the power of these reactions, they are explosive but not as powerful as things like C4 and gunpowder at all. While the Oxygen/propane/butane tanks might make it more lethal they will probably be hard to find and very valuable, finally it isn't a good idea to set off explosives in/near your base if you can avoid it. I'm pretty sure just pure sodium mixed in water would go boom, but it wouldn't be very lethal unless you find a lot of it. Which, would not just be lying around. Not the first home-made explosive I'd choose. Do you find this valuable?

WHY!!!!!!!!!! there are so many other things you could use as exsplosives why use somthing that isnt as powerful is more complex and is 100 times harded to find.
one can of black powder would do ten times the damage if not way more or if you happen to find some old gas that cant be used in a car any more still good for gas bomb also way more bang for your buck

unfortunatly Potassium is one of the most voilitile substaces on earth it has to be stored in vacum sealed jars and then suspened in kerosene to stop it reacting with the air aroud it and burning up
A HELL of a bang though a cubic centermetre in water produces an explosion compare able to a hand granade.
However it is non-leathal because very little heat or shock wave is given off durring the reaction you basically get a Boom thats it I stood three metres away from this and all it did was make my ears ring.

1. Sodium is the one that has to suspended in kerosene... to keep it away from the water vapor in the air. Potassium is safe as long as it is in larger pieces, though it is usually stored in kerosene or mineral oil.

2. it does produce an exothermic reaction when dropped in water, but it is just the sodium tearing self down into hydrogen and heat... which CAN produce flames... no boom sorry kids.

3. adding ptassium has much the same effect, as they both just break down into heat, hydrogen, and each into different chlorides. You would get more flames, but no explosion.

4. There is a way to use them to make explosives, but the process is not easy. Likely too complicated to make a good IED. If you can find out how, good luck, but I won't be the one to tell you how. Be safe Kiddos.
