Sword contraption, though. It almost sounds like you can press a little secret button, and presto-chango, you can have a folding chair with a cup holder for your beer...err soda.edit spelling 3 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

Folded steel with a softer core for flexibility and a hard outer shell for cutting edge...

it is like two foot long blades with a handle between them. you would spin it from your forearm to reveal the blade and then you have a sword thing...

Double ended sword... sounds like an easy way to impale yourself. If you are serious on making this, you need to learn proper metalworking and tempering skills to have a good finished product. If you just want something cool to hang on your wall, go ahead and use a lawnmower blade and an angle grinder. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Please, PLEASE give varied descriptions and something a bit more intuitive than "lol" Is it like this: http://s325.photobucket.com/albums/k367/182crazyking/ZSDW/?action=view¤t=OddSwordConcept.jpg That's my "concept drawing" of it... bit blurry but you can see the concept. if you are doing this because you legitimately need a weapon, i suggest buying a machete, they are lightweight, sturdy and multi purpose. not to mention affordable ($5-20)if you are making a sword type weapon for fun or as a hobby i would not suggest using it in actual combat because unless you are a master swordsmith your product would likely break or inflict minimal damage after a single use 1 out of 1 found this valuable. the amount of money you will end up spending on a legitimate sword that is suited for combat would buy you a decent handgun ima vote for the weapon that needs less maintenance and fires metal at like 1200 ft a second tbh 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"my brother and i were wondering what kind of metal to make a sword contraption from... it should be farily lightweight, and not too expencive, but still strong... any ideas?"Alright young man, I'll help you out here on several points: 1) Do you even know how to machine an object out of Metal? If you don't know, don't try with out the proper schooling, Instruction, & supervision. Just making the D**n think would possibly get you hurt. 2) The 'Type' of sword you are trying to make does sound cool. You know what's cool about it? Knowing how to properly handle such a thing. From your postings, it sounds like you have a very vivid imagination... but are lacking proper schooling. Here's a question: would you know how to perform a proper Block or Parry with this weapon? Something to consider. 3) Like everyone else has been saying: just spend the money on a decent blade & get some training on it. Not from the fawking internet, but a school of some sort. Hope this helps. -Freelancer47 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

My advice: Buy a machete. You're less likely to stab yourself.

good luck with that crafting. dude just go buy a machete, swords are not something easy to master. machetes are easy you just swing at something. now swords are different its longer and a lot heavier
