Zombie Survival Plan
Jun 14 2010, 10:28 PM EDT
When the apocalypse hits, me and some of my friends and all of our families are headed to our school. The school is within a few miles of all of our houses. We will fit as much food and water into our cars as possible. One of my friends is supplying the weapons (he's a gun nut who has plenty of guns and ammunition). Another one of my friends parents own multiple grocery stores. Another one of my friends has many barn animals that can provide us with resources (sheep, goats, chickens, and pigs). The school is near a large forest filled with wildlife and a lake plentiful with fish. The school's walls are made of thick and strong bricks. Our main camp would be on the roof. There is only one way to get up there (first, you go through a locked door into a small closet where you have to pull down a ladder and then climb it). There are some weaknesses though. There is a large library with many windows (possible solution: use the bookcases to completely block out the windows). There are a good amount of entrances and many of them are made of glass (possible solution: being a school there are many large desks and tables to barricade entrances). Another advantage is the gym. Our gym has baseball bats, bows and arrows, and other bludgeoning weapons. What do you think of our plan?

This plan is actually pretty good compared to others that new comers come up with. The school is a good idea since most people wouldn't head to the school after an outbreak and you have a decent food and water supply at the start, but some issues would be long term survival. How would you move the animals and where would you keep them? Can you grow food on the rooftop or is there space on the school grounds? Just some points to think about, but your off to a good start. Edit: Damn you Delta now I feel dumb. Do you find this valuable? |

I can tell you are new, so welcome to ZSDW! Your plan needs work. First off fix the wall-o-text, break up the run on block of words into paragraphs. You lost me at you and your friends are going to school. Read this page alright? http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/School+Will+Kill+You Also when you mentioned your friend's parents own a store, read this. http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/The+Panic You mention barricading the library windows with bookshelves. If massive hordes of zeds attack that window, the bookshelf won't do jack. You really don't have any way to purify the lake water you mentioned, nor a definite source of food. I have never been to a school that had a gym stocked with archery equipment, if so I doubt the target arrows can pierce a zeds scull. There are going to be a ton of people at that school, one infected inside will be a disaster, and the panic will make it worse. Do you find this valuable? |

"I can tell you are new, so welcome to ZSDW!The school part of the plan has it's obvious problems. Heading into the forest staying close to the lake is probably a better idea. Build your camp high up in the trees and you will never have to worry about zombies during the night. I can personally testify to the lethality of the target arrow. This one time...at band camp...I watched a dude take a practice arrow right in the head. The arrow deflected off a tree...changed coarse...and killed him dead. Bows are only good at close range. It's a lot harder to aim a bow than it is a gun. People who are good at it can be very dangerous...but the unskilled archer normally hurts himself and hits $hit with every arrow fired. There's always gonna be time to practice. One of my friends (who is a gun nut) has decided to get himself a bow and a feck load of arrows. That is his solution for when the bullets run out. Where in the Head? Are you a band geek? Do you find this valuable? |

Where in the Head?No it was actually a boy scout wildernes type camp for kids...not band camp...but that's not nearly as funny. The kid got it right in the eye. I was maybe 8 or 9 when it happened...but that was a great many years ago. Do you find this valuable? |

I suppose the angle would also matter... I think it would have still got him. So that was back when they still let kids touch bows? Dang. Bah, are there no other band geeks here? And band camp is fun, I'd know. = ) Do you find this valuable? |

We got to shoot muzzel loaders and throw knives and axes. yep those were the good old days when kids could actually have some fun. Okay so a few people died...and a few people were injured here and there. That shouldn't be enough of a reason to spoil all of our fun. People die in car accidents everyday...we don't ban cars. You know what I miss...Lawn darts. The most dangerous toy/game ever invented. Do you find this valuable? |

I remember that I got to play with a 'kiddie bow' (like 25 lbs draw) when I was 10. And I among all of my friends owned a pocketknife. Ahh lawn darts. The concept is just hilarious. I have an urge to add rockets... Many people die in car accidents. Ironicially kids arn't allowed to go anywhere/ walk there (at least by themselves). I've started walking to the gym everyday recently, and I've seen mabye one semi regular pedestrian. Do you find this valuable? |

There is actually a large courtyard I forgot to mention. It would have room for the barn animals and a good amount of crops.

"There is actually a large courtyard I forgot to mention. It would have room for the barn animals and a good amount of crops."I'm sorry...how many windows does this school have? How many entrances and exits? Even if you manage to barricade yourself inside really well, your makeshift fortifications won't last forever. If you do manage to seal it all up tight and you are totally safe inside...you will soon find yourself totally surrounded by thousands of zombies. What will you do then. You'll starve to death long before your first crop is in. Again...schools, wal-marts, cost-co's and police stations are total death traps. You have to think long term survival...not just immediat safety. Do you find this valuable? |

I still get to throw knives and hatchets at summer camp here in the States. It's really fun. Archery, .22lr rifle shooting, throwing sharp stuff. I even play Five Finger Fillet sometimes, but don't tell my scoutmaster.
