fences.

If you know the zeds are coming an u have time i wonder if u could build a fence using steel sheets/bars/ girders.u cement them into the ground good and proper so itd take a truck to pull em out. u leave them like 4 inches apart so that the zeds try an push through, if u have enough zeds pushing against the steel id asssume that flesh will give way before the fence. itd be kinda like a giant grater or mandolin an the zombies would just push them selves to pieces, id recommened not building this fence anywere you intend staying for a long time , id guess dieced zeds smell a tad. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

I can tell you are new, so welcome to the site. First learn some grammar skills, if you are going to write sentences like "zeds are coming an u have time i wonder if u" you won't recieve much respect here. Second your fence wouldn't work at all, it wouldn't cut them up unless there are masses of bodies that could push another body with enough force to cut them to pieces.

" Second your fence wouldn't work at all, it wouldn't cut them up unless there are masses of bodies that could push another body with enough force to cut them to pieces."I asked if it would work if u had enough zeds pushing against it, so i guess it would work. thankyou for correcting me on my grammer. i think if u could make a mobile versoin itd be a great way to thin the heard if u could block a street for a day with it its an extra day, an zombies dont seem to think to much like maybe walking around the corner and looking for an easier way in.

You'd be surprised at what something that's starving will find out. Plan that you're fence will only slow down the generally complacent one and prepare for the ones that will make it around. (they'll be a toughie to drop, fer sure)

In order for enough pressure to be applied to do what you're thinking you would need something that can handle 5 times the human body weight (at the very LEAST) for a sustained period. That would require LOTS of bracing and reinforcement.

Yeah, that was my thought as well, too much effort and supplies just for something that will inevitably break is kinda worthless. If you were going to make a road block you may as well make it to last and just mow Zed down from the top of it or something.

They can. I guess this a moot point then as it is situational.

I feel like the amound of weight created by 200-plus zombies would topple the fence - it would simply bend the steel - or their bodies would form a kind of ramp that they could simply walk over.

I don't think this would work too great, good idea and great if modified just a tad. Don't try to fence in huge areas, if you can find a large open space which is sealed off by buildings and such (with few windows) you can use this to close in the gaps. just remember that if you decide to build anything, build it strong enough to last. Possible problems with this are the time that it would require to prepare such a fortification, this would not only take maybe a few days to build but that is saying you have all of the equipment and supplies on hand or readily accessible, also you still need to have electricity aailable.
