How have movies and games had an influence on your firearm purchases? If you don't own a firearm, would what you've seen in zombie movies or games have an influence?Speaking honestly it was all the westerns I watched as a kid that got me so gung-ho over lever action rifles and SA revolvers. Although I'm totally open to all kinds of firearms "cowboy" guns are some of my favorites because it was always my dream to own a firearm that was the same as the one I saw at the movies. Come on dudes you have to admit that at least one of your purchases over the years was because you saw it in a movie. Do you find this valuable?

"How have movies and games had an influence on your firearm purchases? If you don't own a firearm, would what you've seen in zombie movies or games have an influence?Usually video games introduce me to a weapon, but I try not to let them influence my opinion of them. I was first introduced to the Five-seveN while playing Counter Strike. All in all, the pistol sucks in the game (the only useful pistol is the Desert Eagle, lol). The description of it intrigued me, so I looked further into it. I eventually fell in love and bought one. I had high expectations for the Desert Eagle the first time I got to fire one, and had I been 21 at the time I graduated boot camp, I would have bought one. Lucky for me I turned into a firearms enthusiast before I had enough money to start buying stuff. I could have ended up with some expensive turds in my gun safe. Do you find this valuable? |

Well, I'm still looking for a pistol grip and folding stock for my shotgun because of Jurassic Park. My obsession with Sig came from a favorite series of books Do you find this valuable? |

All of it. I'm in Canada and I'm from an Chinese family and so I haven't had any gun experience so all I know about guns are from games and some things I've searched up and read about. I plan to go shoot at a range when I turn 18 to get some more experience and then try and get a gun license when I'm old enough. Being on this websites also taught be quite a bit about guns.

In all honesty, a lot of newer video games are getting more and more accurate with their depiction of rifles and submachine guns.I don't care if John Rambo did it or not, you still can't accurately shoulder fire an M60. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYXsKPdGf4E That slight barrel wobble equates to shooting about 15 feet high at 50 yards. Honestly, the guns I've bought haven't been because of movies or anything. So far, the only guns I've actually bought (rest being given to me by my father) are a Mossberg 500, Stevens Model 200, and a 1911. The Mossberg and Stevens were for hunting. I normally base my purchases on two things: proven use, and cost. The Mossberg and 1911 have been around forever, and are relatively inexpensive. The same is true for the Stevens (though it has had a shorter life.) I'm not gonna waste $800 on a handgun because Bruce Willis shot the crap outta 10 people with it in a movie. That just doesn't seem practical. Admittedly, though, there is one gun that I really want because of a certain movie. The Stoeger Coach Gun. Ash's boomstick! Well...also maybe the Savage 99 from DOTD. But not as much. Do you find this valuable? |

I don't own a firearm. Whatever Alex has would probably influence my decision. Hey Alex we should get matching weapons. Yours can say "best" and mine can say "friends".

No personal firearms, but if I did buy one it would likely be one that I am comfortable or familiar with from experience. For example: I have qualified with the 92FS and the M-16, so I would be comfortable using a beretta or pretty much anything with the AR profile. I have also put a few rounds through a Kimber and have taken quite a liking to it, so that's on the list as well. Do you find this valuable? |

For many years my firearm purchases were based solely on need. I grew up dirt poor and weapons put food on the table just like fishing poles. I've never been big on handguns because they were the most useless guns any hunter could have in my eyes. Most of my weapons were shotguns. I could take anything that showed itself with one and often did, in season or out. When you're hungry you don't really care.As the years went buy I bought a handful of weapons that I considered "out there" for me. Every time I did I'd tend to question how good it would be for rabbits, how well would this work on turkeys, if I buy this and jump some quail will it really be useful? It's not always movies and games that influence us. Sometimes it's our own experience when we are young. Do you find this valuable? |

I don't even know what they use in movies and games. Last time I played a shooting game... 5 months... Rainbow six, ps1. Binelli M1, MP5 silenced, and M60 are all I can remember from the weapons, I don't pay attention.Tremors inspired me I guess. Did you see that guys basement??? I want a basement like that! I don't even know what any of them are, so anything I get is simply because I heard about it or saw it in a store and wanted to get it. Do you find this valuable? |

I first saw the Mosin Nagant on CoD World at War. Did some research, got to shoot a 91/30, fell in love with it. I was going to buy one, an M44. I had my local gun store owner pull it off the shelf for me until I got the money, but my father, who has no experiance with the weapon, decided it is a piece of sh*t for some reason, and now will not let me purchase it. Now my dream of owning the Mosin Nagant is shattered. Thanks dad. Sorry, just ranting about being a teenager. *sigh* It sucks. Do you find this valuable? |

Mercenaries 1&2 for the xbox is what convinced me to buy my AK. It's not a special gun in the game or anything, but the games reminded me of the guns durability and power. Also, I bought a 1911 because that's what Duke carried in the old G.I. Joe comic books and he was my favorite. And I suppose the Die Hard and Lethal Weapon movies miiiiight have had something to do with buying a Beretta. Maybe. Do you find this valuable? |

"The Outlaw Josey Wales" and "The Good the bad and the Ugly."Jesus Christ I might buy me a Colt 1851 Navy or Colt 1860 Army just because that man used SIMILAR weapons. And because they are 170 bucks. Yeah thats another good reason. Do you find this valuable? |
