im just asking since both have weaknesses and strengths wat is worse the dead coming bak to life and trying to eat your brains or is it worse to have an infection that makes people very aggresive and possibly be agressive to anything in site even eachother and symptoms dont apear till about a week later? I consider the undead to be a joke. They are so slow and clumsy that they would pose no real threat, even in large numbers.

Ragers are my favorite, and when it comes down to it, the most plausible. The beauty of it is considering the person would still be alive and reliant on their organs to function property, center mass shots will be fatal and they have a lifespan equal to that of an uninfected human. The downside is speed and agility with the potential for cognitive thought.

Ragers are far worse for me. I'm about your average guy, so I probably won't be able to outrun any rage zombies as they are pumped out on adrenaline and they won't feel pain. I also only have a melee weapon so if it comes down to a fight I'm pretty much ******. However they'll probably die in a week due to dehydration because they are still living. If they can think though? Oh boy, it won't end well. Do you find this valuable?

How about if they drink? I mean who knows what zombies do, maybe when they feel thirsty they go around for a water supply and any human they happen to come across, they kill.
anyways for me Ragers because of the fact they run, really fast and for quite long. and traps that would take down shamblers would probably not affect ragers such as a wall. Seriously if the Zeds retain some intelligence and climb walls and think things through, we are all ****ed

If they drink and eat that's even worse for us. Less supplies to scavenge and more competition. But ragers would be pretty easy to disable if you a vehicle. Round up a herd, let them chase for a couple hours, their muscles will break down, profit.

Depends on how the "walking dead" themselves act too. I vote for the "I am legend" style rage zombies as the most dangerous, and the walking dead as the least dangerous. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

the classic shamblers wouldn't last long, The army aren't as hopeless as movies make them out to be. Also if they climbed out of the grave they would have kept the wounds from how they died (e.g. broken bones, knife/gun wounds,) and they may have been an organ donor, leaving them with massive disadvantages.

whilst the ragers would probably be such a threat that they may drive us to extinction, the fact that if they attacked with teeth then the would most likely drink blood and eat flesh.

though we would be able to kill them with body shots, which would make even the most novice of marksmen a lean mean zombie killing machine.

if you die because of slow mover's, you probably deserve to die. thats why we rarely see slow zombies in movies now, they just dont pose a threat.

now if they are infected, that is a problem, because it could be air born, and they are fast.

Ragers would be way more dangerous, but you'd have to survive so much longer with undead zombies... clumsy as they are you can't live around them safely.

I can't really choose between taking my chances to survive 5-10 years (One streak of bad luck and you might die.)

or the rage zombies that will be able to keep up, maybe even use weapons...
But for a much shorter time.

I think most people here discount fear. Rage Zombies are one thing, but have you ever really though just how scared you would be if a maggot infested half rotted corpse suddenly slammed into your window as you were chilling on the couch? Then say it kind of smears rotted flesh on the window then stumbles off into the dark. a second or two later as you are trying to caught your breath something starts beating at the door. Then a window breaks and a low dry groan fills your ears. Do you find this valuable?

Shamblers= little threat. They can be dealt with pretty quickly (or simply walked around.)

Ragers= a decent threat. Their speed makes them difficult to hit. However, if you can find a safe place, some food, and a shotgun, you'll probably be okay.

To me, the most dangerous would be ROTLD zombies. Those things were freakin' unstoppable.

@Allforfun: Yeah, most of us would probably be scared. However, after pissing my pants and thinking "Holy s*it it's actually happening!" it would be a simple matter to get a gun and put my plan into motion.

i have to agree the ragers are way more dangerous here are some pros and cons:

PROS: will probably die out after a few weeks to a month or 2, can be killed just as easily as a human.

CONS: will be just as fast maybe even faster than a non infected person, Probably will have the ability to jump, climb, etc

Also guys you have to remember something important about the humans its more likely that the ragers will die of starvation. Because in the initual weeks they would of killed and eaten or infected most people so to me ragers are more likely to die of starvation from lack of humans then deyhidration[sorry if i spelt it wrong]. You also need to remember the human body has water in it so that means they can get water from eating us. So they are likely to die of deyhidration after they had infected/eaten most humans in the initial weeks so it will be incresingly hard to find the remainder of humans. Because the last of the humans would start to know at least something about zombie survival and will probably make less mistakes than they did in the initial week/s of the pandemic. Ragers for sure would be bad, but they wouldn't be too bad, cause you could just go onto a boat and just watch em come at you. (btw they do have the breathe air right?)

But shamblers..... pathetic, the only reason i could see them even getting to a threat level is because the army/police dispatched to deal with them don't know to shoot for the head.

But the scariest for me would be the infected from the crazies, just as smart as an uninfected human, but with a tendency to kill everything.

Are you describing the Crazies or MajorDamage, 'cause that applied to both of 'em.

The slow moving walking dead is a much bigger threat than it seems we like to let on, most of our supplies will be gathered in a city or semi-civilized area, and most cities have a nice big population, sure skirting around a few here and there no problem, but its almost as bad as a riot, they cover one side of the street to the other and are atleast 5 rows deep, of course they have to take slow shambling steps to come after you but they won't tire, and will just keep following you until say the rest of the cities infected populace corners you against them.
Now about the rage zombies, what if the virus that reverts back to this animalistic like stage much like rabies forces them into say.. packs? group of 4-8 rage zombies hunting us much the same as we'd be hunting them? or if the virus does what it should do and kill them off, only for them to come back as a shambler, you wouldn't be able to tell teh difference from a shambling zombie and a rage zombie from a distance if they are just standing in the street as we've all seen in movies.
Now a good stand off distance for me to engage with a handgun, I will put myself at around 30-40 yards (I'm contradicting myself here from above stated words) against maybe 10 shamblers, no problem, now what if there were two hidden rage zombies in that group, rough guess from internet sources say the average human sprinting speed is 5-7 seconds to cover a 40 yard distance, now adrenaline pumping through their muscles will easily subtract 1-2 seconds, I now have a max of 6 seconds to react to them. I don't know if its more terrifying to think that they would be capable of thinking enough to set that form of a trap, or if they would just hunt in group, I am just going to attempt to avoid all groups of them at all costs.

But to cast my opinion, I think the ragers are worse.

if they eat flesh, that means that they will eat up their victims, meaning half eaten zombie uncapable of spreading infection(shambler)

Well, even depending on how far out you go, the pressure of the water could crush them.

I agree with CadetBarber, that the shamblers are a bigger threat than some people think.
Sure, they're slow, but if they're in a big group, depending on your group size, distance away and your reload speed, you could be overrun.

But the Ragers are the worst ones. Just the fear it would put into you seeing them sprinting as fast as they can at you, with no other intention but to tear you to ******* pieces.

Well in essence if it was a rager zombie, oxygen would still be flowing through their body and they would have their own buoyancy allowing them to float, or even swim after you if they could retain that knowledge from before the rage hit them. even if they couldn't swim, they could hit nuetral buoyancy allowing them to sink just under water but not to the bottom, I'm sure a few would drown, if not all but still driving your boat back, they could latch on.
