Yep, not hard to obtain a silencer. In Missouri, you have to have some sort of FFL (even FFL03, aka C&R license - costs $30) and pay the $200 tax stamp on top of the cost of the silencer. That's it.

Personally, I don't have a need for a silencer, nor can I justify the expense. Maybe later on down the road...

"It's already been covered and resolved, but I'd like to take this opportunity to point out for the posterity that carrying on about about the "Silencer" vs. "Suppressor" nonsense is tantamount to b*tching at somebody for calling the death of a child a "Tragedy."

And now I'll adopt the style of self-righteous howling that the ZSDW is, in fact, known for (I've checked):

I won't explain the problem with titling anything that actually occurred as a "tragedy," because anybody that went through fifth grade should know what it is.

Anybody who ever calls an actual event a "tragedy" is obviously a complete gawdamn moron.

If you have at any point, you don't deserve to speak English. Please just leave.

Yes, it really looks exactly the same. Nobody's ever impressed. And yet we're shocked and amazed that new members vanish."
Um... Drew can you actually translate this?

Because it looks off and I have a response but I'd like to clarify before I do.

"Hmm, never heard of a silencer either. Do those go on desert eagles or something?"
Just had a two page thread here the other day on them and thier need for subsonic ammo started by Alexhigginbotham....Remember the one where he said " I grabbed a really nifty guide on making silencers " ...[grin]

I think that a suppressed .22 rifle or even accurate pistol would be an extreamly useful gun to have. Would allow you to shoot game with out drawing as much attention to yourself like shooting a non silenced firearm. Not only Humans or Zombies but other game as well
While maybe not like Hollywood there are designs today that are extreamly quite
Maybe not cheap but I imagine lots of guys spend more money on less useful stuff

Im currently saving up to buy a suppressor. It takes about 3 months for paperwork to file here in Texas but its worth it. I will be happy that my AR sounds more like a .22, hopefully it will make ear protection not so important. Do you find this valuable?

Thanks, although I never really left just kind of lurked.

And to the people whining about my terminology, increase your vocabulary. Suppressors are more often refereed to as silencers here.

Silencer is an incorrect term simply because it is misleading about the actual effects of the device. It doesn't Silence the gun, it suppresses it. Do you find this valuable?

Same differnece, no need to be an arse over it. If pwned was a new member he proberly thought that every one here are ********* and never visit the site again. ANd wasn't the point of the post that 'suppressor' or 'silencers' are not as affective as movie portray them to be.

Edit: Sorry if i offended Der shatten, although i highly doubt i did.

A lot of homemade suppressors are just as effective as manufactured ones. I really don't see the point in buying a new one when you can make one for less than $50 and still get a tax stamp on it.

I have no idea how to make one, but I'm fairly good at homecrafting weapons and the like. I'll look for instructions online but if you know of any it'd be nice if you could post them.
