"No.

That was tried, it descended into chaos, and it was locked.

We don't ban things because we want to. We ban them because we have to. A political or religious thread is the quickest way for cordial members to become hateful of each other."
I guess its PM'ing time then....

"The republicans are idiots, and the democrats are cowards that's what i say im an independent and proud and i don't vote and never will and still proud so take that."
Seriously Red how can people like yourself waste something men and women in their hundreds of thousands have died for on your behalf?

It ticks me off everyone moaning about the government yet they have no intention of changing it. This is why the UK is on the road to hell, because the same old parties are elected by the same people, the rest not arsed and therefore the country rots.

I am. That statement is about as far as I can get on the political current political spectrum.

There are idiot conservatives, idiot independants and idiot liberals politics is full of idiots of all types. Lumping the political idiots with the rest in their given political affliation seems a tad strange to me. I chose the order based on alphabetical order, not some attempt to put one ideology over the other. I prefer the parliamentary system but know its flaws; it like the American system can descend into pointless bickering without good leadership. The only advantage is we can throw up our hands in the air and say frack it all lets start again and have another election.

I am believer in a strict meritocracy. I believe that the merits of the individual politician must be weight carefully over any personal or party loyalty. This does not include the vague aspects commonly brought up in elections such as family values. Leaders must be decided logically based on the required skillset for the time not because they stand behind a party or a specific group of people. Before each election here I study in great detail the voting structure of the individual running for a seat i office rather than a party platform. In Canada the party with the most seats in parlament forms the government. Single overpowering visions and popularism are some of the worst reasons to vote for a person. Irrelevant data makes its way in destroying any possibility of anything above mob rule or the rule of selected elite. The independent does not believe a strict interpretation meritocracy; they do share some common beliefs however, they do fall victem to the same logical fallacies as other political affiliations.

Because that is his choice. With the freedom to vote comes the freedom not to vote.

Remember that whole "no politics in this thread" thing? It still counts.

the merits of an individual politician. . . .Lol, That would be a negative value then? Would you express it as an ethical extrinsic or do we need to go to calculus for manipulating infinitesimal quantities?

Jokes (like there is actually a difference between 'The Right' and 'The Left') aside, as Pedro said, this thread is for posting compass results.

" I have seen the rare positive with my own eyes"
I didn't see that, I only heard, Just to be sociable, well, I'll take your word
I heard a fireside chat, I saw a baseball bat, And I just laughed till I thought I'd die
But I be done seen about everything, When I see an elephant fly.

"I knew there were people from all over the spectrum here, but I would have guessed most would be more conservative. There are way more people leaning to the left and libertarian (bottom). Very informative. Good job Pedro. "
political belief, like religous belief, is something that is strongly personal and allows us to socially air our personal belief systems in a manner that addresses issues we have with other people in an acceptable and debatable manner. i know this isn't always pretty, easy to understand, or even effective at times, but it is a part of who we are as a society.

during an apocalyptic situation people will still have their own personal beliefs, and the systems that allow them to publically express them. but, under such circumstances people will undergo some pretty serious re-assesment of their personal belief systems and it is entirely possible that these differences in belief, opinion, choice will lead to pretty extreme violence very rapidly.
