PedroAsani has a cult now
Jul 8 2010, 3:47 PM EDT | Post edited: Jul 8 2010, 3:47 PM EDT
So I decided to show this website to my father. The particular part of the site I showed was Pedro's Survival Plan. My father took the time to skim through and got hooked. He then reread the whole thing. Now he's insisting that PedroAsani is the god of large-scale, long term survivalism and is going to model his plan after this one except for having his base in our backyard. He ran off to the army/navy surplus store and is using a printed off version of the plan to make his purchases but isn't taking the quality and cost of the gear into consideration. For a while know we have seen the oncoming doom and have been saving up to prepare but now has become so obsessed with THIS plan in particular that he is not even considering OUR area and how to survive here. What's better is that he is printing off more copies and passing them out to his impressionable buddies who have survivalist mindsets.

So now it seems Pedro is the owner of his very own cult. Thank you for brain washing my father. =_=* Now I have headache.

Yeah... no kidding.... Sometimes I think all of the meager intelligence in my family skipped all the way to me. But, then again, at least I'll have a load of crappy equipment when I bail on these guys....

Well, my family is quite paranoid, militant and survivalistic anyways. I guess that's how he got hooked on the plan. I'm not trying to discredit Pedro's plan in the least. I think it's amazing and will work great for him if he can acquire his needed resources, but for me and my family all it's going to do is get us broke and dead in the case of an emergency.

Actually most of the crop calculations are based on the US average yields.

Granted, you can't grow oranges in Maine without some sunlamps and a greenhouse, but for the majority of the crops he should be ok. The calculations are deliberately conservative to allow for mistakes and crop failures in the first few years, due to the learning curve as to what is needed to cultivate the different plants.

I endorse your dad's use of the plan. Just let him know that tools and equipment are the smallest part of it. The knowledge and experience will be a tougher thing to acquire.

I noticed that, I'll keep that in mind when we're buying seed stockpiles. I still don't think we could do what your plan proposes simply because of lack of land (that we own) and resources.

I tried to tell him that but he seemed uninterested in what I had to say.

On a side note it's damn tough finding any kind of seed that isn't frankenseed.

Anything you want to tell him, start with "Pedro says:..." :)

Trying to get proper seeds is tough. You can't go to most stores, you need to find local growers. If you tell them you are just trying to start a small garden, they should be willing to help you out.

I think I'll do that. :P

I aught to try that. Though, from what I understand, many farmers in the area use frankenseeds that they get shipped to them by their contractor.

Those are commercial farmers. You need to find local growers. Ask for "heirloom" seeds.

Just chimming in here. I never got the chance to read Pedros plan, but I actually started an Heirloom garden this year, and it is turning out pretty good (except for the Black Eyed peas) There is actually a network of heirloom growers in the northeast, just do a websearch, and you will find a lot of information.

Indeed, if there was a martial art dojo of the ZSDW, we must call it "Shinsei Damage-Do" as this means "The True Way of Damage" or "Damage's Way."

I actually like the sound of that... maybe one day in the future, after I retire or something, i'll open a dojo and teach my own brand of martial arts and call it "Damage-Do."

All in all it was, all just noobs in the hall. All in all it was, all just some noobs in the hall! Don't think I need anything (like water food ammo and life points) at all!!!!
