(Another) Scenario!
Jul 8 2010, 10:32 PM EDT
It's been 20 days since the Panic in your area. You are living in a smalll house with special fortifications - wood over the windows, bricks over the walls that are undefensable - and normal gates and doors. You have 4 of your best friends with you (including their skills). In the back is a 500 square foot crop garden currently growing multiple different types of food crop, as well as a stockpile of 25 MREs and 10 pounds of nonperishable food. You have a clean well in your backyard as well as a purified, 20,000 gallon pool. You and your members' gear consists of standard survival gear. In addition, the base has 4 rifles, 6 pistols (2 revolvers and the rest semi-autos), 2 shotguns, 10 knives, and 8 high-quality steel machetes. One day you send out your scavenging team; they come back an hour early and say you must come with them. They drive you and everyone else a quarter mile outside of a large fortress, consisting of a 2 story brick house fortified with steel around the perimeter. The perimeter is patrolled day and night by at least 2 guards every 12 hours armed with scoped rifles. About once or twice every day you can see an armored jeep with some supplies leave; later in the day it returns with more. Weather they are looting abandoned places, trading with others, or raiding different bases you cannot be sure. As leader of the group, you do... what? A) Contact the base and attempt to form an alliance B) Steer clear of the base. C) Attempt to raid the base D) Other Have fun Do you find this valuable? |

B, they seem well organised, well fortified and they could be raiding other and very hostile. Not worth the risk in my opion. Keeping a low profile is the only option.

B. Odds are they will see you as a threat to their survival and drop each and everyone of you like the thirty point buck. I would really rather take my chances against the zeds than against a well oranized team of hostiles.

I'll stay clear for a while. Still take a peek once in a while and keep our eyes peeled to that direction just in case.If this is in my area like the scenario suggests, I'd tear down the fences of some other backyards for more farm land. :) they don't seem to have that vast of numbers either so I may eventually try and form an alliance. At this point though... We just discovered them. They could be axe murderers or somthing. This also makes me think about how important film cameras might be.... Scouting. Yea you gotta develop the pictures but I did that stuff in highschool... 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

D: Follow the Jeep. Find out where they are getting their supplies from. Go from there. If they found a good scavenging spot, maybe wait till they go back and scavenge as much as possible. Or if they are raiding other survivors, waste everyone in the jeep to keep them from raiding you someday.

I like toxic shock's idea. Follow the jeep. If they're looting, then leave a messege for them. Chances are they'll be looting buildings systematicly. On their next scheduled run, keep an eye out for them to make sure that only the one party leaves. You want to try to get a response from them with no one around except for your guys. If you don't recieve a reply then fortify your location even more and prepare for a raid. Anti-personel mines can be fashioned from shotgun shells. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

D.I'd keep a good watch on them for about a month, (more if I feel I have not gained the proper intell). If I discover that they are "raiding", killing (without reason), raping, the whole 9 yards. I will steer clear, keep a lookout for any kind of movement in my aria, and be extra careful. If I discover that they are nice, helping, stocking, and keeping order. I will come to them, ask for a meeting, telling them a small amount about my location and load out. Attempt to come to a agreement that I would be a look out, and a safe place to go for there guys if they where ever in trouble, I would ask the same from the. Try to keep contact, and if they have a supply network (assuming they have one) I would make it so they come and check on us and we can triad gear if needed ( for the most part I would hold back on this.. unless they have a golden deagle with a silencer on it). That's what I'd do. Do you find this valuable? |

B.But I'll be on the look out for that Jeep near my base as they are most likely looting or raiding. Do you find this valuable? |

B and A. Avoid the base itself and try to catch one of their scavenging parties out. Talk with them to find out if their colony is friendly or not, then act according to the impression you get from their scavenging party.

D.I will not make any actions until I know their motives. So I will attempt to keep eyes on them till I figure it out. Do you find this valuable? |

I like the ideas here. Hmm, it seems that many seem to be avoiding the base. Are you just going to mark it as a no-go or wait until you have a better group?

"I like the ideas here. Hmm, it seems that many seem to be avoiding the base. Everyone is assuming they will be violent. Do you find this valuable? |

B)You are in good shape so far. If you were starving or in desperate need of water you would have to make difficult decesions about who you "needed". Prepared people have more options. Un-prepared people do not. Whos the a-hole who started this whole scenario trend anyway?....Oh never mind. Do you find this valuable? |
