Gauntlets
Jul 9 2010, 11:57 AM EDT | Post edited: Jul 9 2010, 11:57 AM EDT
The first time I used guantlets(them being padded karate gauntlets)
they turned out to be effective when attempting to put your arm in the way of a bite. My dog would bite it and think about hw to get around it which was useless. I would practice with it everyday in hot weather to get my arms used to the hot conditons the metal gauntlets would bring me. A typical attack with these babies would be to make simple hard swings, such as the MMA "superman" punch, upper cuts, or can be used to rip the jaw off a zombie.

Hi, welcome to the site Yomako - you seem to be a nice person who understands how to spell.

Metal gauntlets probably have much, much more effectiveness than the standard mall ninja samuria armor, but if you're trying to stop a human bite on your arm/wrist, why metal armor? Remember, a jaw is all you're trying to stop. A thick jacket would prevent an infection as a last resort.

If you fnd or make spiked or "brass knuckel-ed" gauntlets with reinforced knuckles, why not use a melee weapon? Instead of WWE punches, grab yourself a knife or machete. Now you have a decaptitating or stabbing weapon. And of course a gun would be nice... lol.

That said, if one were to wear gauntlets while using melee weapons, and said melee weapon was grabbed by a zombie, you could punch the zombie in the head, knocking it backwards or caving in its skull. So I like the idea.

Unless your real name is Quentin "Rampage" Jackson I'd stick with something that takes a little less skill. Gauntlets open you up to all kinds of accidental mis-steps that would end your run at survival real quick. Invest in a good pair of running shoes instead.

How would that be timber? Unless, of course, you tried to use them as your primary weapon. Do you find this valuable?

Hmmm. I like that idea. At least gauntlets make a better last ditch weapon than your bare hands. Do you find this valuable?

European stile metal gauntlets is probably the best types of gloves one could have.
you see if one finds or makes good gauntlets the design is executed in such a way that you will not lose any more dexterity in your fingers than whit normal gloves.

I would worry about being able to effectively use a firearm with your hand encased in steel. I would focus more on bite protection to your forearm

with something like this: http://www.schmitthenner.com/images/SCH2599.jpg

Or, for the ninja fans out there : http://www.schmitthenner.com/images/PICT2895.JPG
