What about a 1992 ford bronco?

Nobody in my family has a car like that. Most of them have mini vans or trucks. The one vehicle in particular is a 1992 ford bronco. What should I do with that to prep for z-day? Do you find this valuable?

It's not yours, so you can't do anything.

You are a teenager. Don't try and make an adult plan. You can't prep a car, a house, or any of the main areas.

Work on a BOB, a map of viable escape routes, and a stockpile of food. Pay for it yourself, don't sneak it from your parents.

Talk to your parents. Read http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/Teenage+Survival

If you can't do that, then you shouldn't be trying to make adult plans.

I don't think you realize how badly things would go relying on my parents. They would completely ignore any zombie survival tips and head straight toward a major city or try to hold out with the neighbors. Both would mean a 100% chance of my death. And the plan of taking my dad's gun and nightstick is for scenario 1.a. when dad has already been bitten. Also, I am an excellent shot with a rifle and know how to maintain one.

I stand by my previous post. As horrendously as you believe things might go, the car is not yours, so you cannot make any pre-Z modifications to it.

Read the page I linked. Talk to your parents about disaster planning.

Has it been maintained? Does it have a lift? Has it been wheeling a lot in the last 20 or so years? These are important things to consider. Just because it's an SUV doesn't make it superior.
I have an SUV and wheel the heck out of it on a regular basis. I am also worried EVERY time I go because my rear axle is about as thick as my wrist.
I haven't ever had a problem that hasn't been fixable. But I haven't had to replace an engine/computer/alt/rear end/ect during an outbreak.
So if it's heavily abused and hasn't been maintained, it might be better to try and find something else. Plus side, that year had a good bit of clearance and a good set of strong engine choices.

This is from my own little life experience but there are only two types of wheeling trucks. Broken and breaking.

I gotta agree with Pedro, you can't mess with stuff that isn't yours. But if you're determined the one thing I would advise you to do is learn how to make basic repairs on a car, learn to patch a tire, replace or patch a hose, change a tire (If you can't do that already), jump a dead battery, etc. I'm sure you can get your dad or someone to show you that stuff, it's not rocket science. Good call, better yet, take a basic auto class at your school.

On an off-topic side note. I personally think an AK would be ok in this situation considering how many are in the hands of children worldwide already.

I get your point, but I wasn't gonna modify it. That was probably a bad call anyway.

You seem pretty set on the fact that your parents are complete know-nothings who don't have an ounce of survival in their bodies.

If you keep that attitude, you will die. You've been relying on them for food and a home your entire life, you aren't going to automatically be amazing at surviving in a world like that.

If an outbreak occurred, it wouldn't be immediate, so if your parent's really do lack any knowledge you might have time to have them check this site.

"Paint the sumbitch white!"
Only make sure you use an off white wall paint. Automotive paint is for sissies.

Maybe something by martha stewart named light cream seaside morning?

Correction. They don't have an ounce of zombie survival in their bodies.

Have you ever had to survive a zombie outbreak? You wouldn't know if anyone lacked an ounce of zombie survival unless they had a plan based on a large store...... Or have a plan based on a fictional book *cough* Do you find this valuable?

"Correction. They don't have an ounce of zombie survival in their bodies."
But would they recognise a zombie outbreak for what it is, or would they simply see it as riots, biological pandemic, social collapse, etc.

Yet again, it comes back to TALK TO THEM ABOUT DISASTER PLANNING.
