Zombie_Death_Dealer's Plan
Jul 24 2010, 5:56 PM EDT
My plan calls for holding in place(suburbia) until the full scope of the outbreak can be determined via battery operated am/fm/short-wave radio. I have enough supplies hold in place for 30 days. If bugging out becomes the only option, I head to our farm which provides a greater field of view, has an abundance of wild game, and is off the grid with it's own water supply. From there I can head in any direction if necessary. By driving along R/R tracks I can avoid the sure-to-be-clogged roads, and major towns/cities, while still getting close enough to any other desired destination. Bug Out Vehicle: Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Weapons on Hand: (Yes, I actually really DO own the following guns/equipment.) AT&T gun: Rock River Arms LAR-15 .223 with bull barrel, 4x16x40 scope, and bipod. (Why let 'em get close if you can take 'em at out 600+ yards. Smaller framed people can be accurate with it because of little recoil, with a little practice.) Back-up distance gun: DPMS AP4 in .308 w/ 6 posit stock and quick detach inter-changeable sights. Closer-in zombie dispatcher: Remington 870 in 20 ga. with 7 shot tube. (20ga.because 12ga. will be in short supply, AND, recoil not as bad as 12 ga. so quick follow-up shots) Things-went-horribly-wrong guns: Taurus .38 sp.+p Ruger .357 mag Glock .357 Sig Springfield Armory .45 CZ Tactical .40 Keltec .32 Browning .380 EQUIPMENT: H2O Purification Tablets Collapsable H2O containers Lots O' ammo for guns Med/Surg kit Portable hammock (keeps you off the wet ground) E-Tool Self igniting propane solderer MRE's(3 days worth) Bolt cutter Manual siphon pump Crow bar 50' rope Duct/elect tape mess kit poncho binoculars personal hygiene equip. tarp mosquito net Plans B & C Do you find this valuable?

sounds good, it would be nice to see some pictures w/ your username in them of all those guns though.it doesn't seem you've listed much food in your bug out supplies, and i disagree 12 gauge won't be in short supply if you bought it before SHTF looks like you've chose a great BOL, do you own it? or is it a family place, or is it just somwhere you've seen? Do you find this valuable? |

Nice start, but you could flesh out the plan a little more. Details, I thrive on details! :)

Are the tracks near your house clear enough to drive by? The tracks around here are way to vegitated to drive through. A hand cart of the tracks might be a good find if you can get one. I don't even know if they are made anymore.Do you have experience shooting .223 past 500 yards? That round moves a LOT out at those distances. The "effective" range of a 5.56 round is around 600 yards, and since .223 has a smaller charge, wouldn't that reduce its effective range? Ehh, I've seen possum blast small targets at 600 yards with .223, but it was a Remington 700. Do you find this valuable? |

yeah thats another thing the railroad tracks around me have a ditch on either side which would make it impossible to drive on

"sounds good, it would be nice to see some pictures w/ your username in them of all those guns though. Will work on the pics. 3 days worth of food is more than enough to get to BOL even if I have to detour around. Normally a 2.5 hr. trip. The BOL is a family place. Only 200+ acres but situated on high ground with 100 to 600 yds fields of fire. The 20 gauge was purchased with other(smaller) people having/needing to shoot it mind, ie home defense, main shooter incapacitated, etc.. Thx for the feedback. Do you find this valuable? |

"Nice start, but you could flesh out the plan a little more. Details, I thrive on details! :)"Since I'm in northern Tx., I/we could go in any direction once it's determined where majority of outbreaks are/have occured. Since I've travelled extensively through the lower 48, I know most major routes to the big metro areas. And, more importantly, how to avoid them. If I/we are forced to un-a** the BOL, R/R tracks predominately follow most major routes while still remaining out of sight. Carry enough food and water to get to the next scrounge area. Adapt and overcome the meltdown of plan A with Plan B. Do you find this valuable? |

I don't even know if they are made anymore.Yes, the tracks around here stay pretty well cleared on the right of ways. The clearance on the vehicle is high enough to drive on the tracks if that becomes necessary. Yes, more experience than most ppl with shooting out to and just past the six hundred yard mark. Mostly out to 500 with iron sights ala the 16. And I agree, the 5.56 isn't my preferred round at those distances, but its cheaper to shoot than the .308. I could mod the DPMS easily with bigger optics and bipod if need be. Do you find this valuable? |
