What are your opinions on trade caravans. Is it worth the risk of raider and zed attacks for trade or if not how would you make a living? 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

If I was gonna run a caravan, i would make sure im completely ready for my own survival, and have the acquaintence of several other people ready to fend for themselves if they had to. Then i would make a cool name, like Wolfpack (Fallout 3) Do you find this valuable?

it all about risk. If you can make the caravan work your fortune is made. If you cant make it work you are dead. Do you find this valuable?

So basically it is about common sense and preparation, just like everything else. Do you find this valuable?

Hm. A large amount of supplies with little protection... Make a stop in Kentucky, and I'll make you an offer. Do you find this valuable?

There is are a few reasons many Mosin Nagants were fitted with scopes. That would be one. And do you think I would be traveling alone?

I know you'd be in groups.

My squad would be camouflaged. If you were too powerful, we'd let you drive by.

Do you really think that attacking a caravan that is carrying food and ammo would endear you to the next settlement you come across? Especially if someone survives the attack and warns the settlement.

Edit: Or if someone finds the site of the attack.

You'd all die though. The next settlement would be US, genius.

Also, what are they going to do?

"Hey guys, let's all attack a heavily armed group of raiders because they shot a traveling salesman!"

So, instead of peacefully trading, you would kill everyone and establish yourselves as the barbarians of the apocalypse? Do you not realize that attacking a caravan would prevent other ones from going to that area? It would produce short term supplies. Whereas with trading, you could feasibly get supplies forever, if you have something the traders want.

Trading means you need supplies too. It's not like you're a charity.

Yes, I would.

Nope, they would be like this

"ok people, we can't afford to send anymore caravans to x settlement (your settlement) because one of the caravans we sent was taken out by raiders. So if they want supplies, they are sh*t out of luck."

Better to scavenge and find something the caravan traders want. Better to barely get by forever, but still have food, than to gorge out for a week, then run out of food.

You're not listening.

What point is it trading? We'd need to have supplies to trade.

Also, I wouldn't raid you at my settlment. Down the road about 20 miles, indeed.

What part of scavenge the surrounding area aren't you getting? You will find plenty of stuff (car parts, guns, ammo, gas, etc.) that traders would want. I am going to make a point, now, of never sending out a caravan with less than 10 men with automatic weapons. If I find out a caravan was taken out in your area, your people would suffer, because of your greed.
