I would take a diesel truck with armor fortifications and large UV lights mounted on the top so I can see very clearly when heading to a safehouse at night. Sure, the UV light idea sounds light zombie bait on wheels, but armor fortifications (spikes, blades, metal plates, etc.) should be able to keep the zeds off while on the road. I'll have a couple of "wingmen" in the back with semi-automatic 12 gauge shotguns in case the SHTF and we have zeds all over, not to mention the glass will be tinted and bullet-proof with hardened with palm resin. Who else here would like huge body shufflers on the front of the truck so if we run through huge thing of bodies we won't be flung everywhere on the massively gore-stained road?
Do you find this valuable?

And wouldn't the gas milege be terrible? Or is this just your dream car? I would get my hands on a cop car from my neighborhood. Lots of cops. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"...wouldn't the gas milege be terrible?...Could always scavenge the canola oil from all the vacant fast food places as long as someone knows how to convert it properly. Although the truck sounds like one from "Dawn of the Dead" minus the chainsaws. Do you find this valuable? |

Does that go bad at all? Do you find this valuable? |

"How fast do you think that canola oil would run out? Shouldn't be too long, unless everybody has that idea... Does that go bad at all?"Honestly I don't know if it goes bad fast. I am sure the properties of it will start to separate after awhile. The idea is more hypothetical really. I'm sure some people will think of that, mostly those who already do use old fastfood grease or other diesel alternatives, but compared to ammo, survivor equipment, and food. I could see it as a low priority. However the nice thing about diesels are there are other options than just fuel at a gas station. Hell at my base we use JP-8(Jet fuel) to fuel our trucks. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I plan on finding a Tesla roadster and raising the suspension so it can be a viablesemi-offroad vehicle . It would lose some speed but at least I would be able to have a vehicle that is decently fast and NOT USE OIL Do you find this valuable? |

Cars would be a temporary form of transportation because after the Panic you'll find abandoned vehicles forming impassable roadblock . I'd get a sail boat and sail away from major landmasses and go to remote islands

"I plan on finding a Tesla roadster and raising the suspension so it can be a viableI'm sorry, but that's the greatest fail I've ever heard of. You realize even a fast charge with 220 takes hours to get a Tesla roadster going again, and on standard 120.... Don't count on it. Not to mention, the motors aren't all that reliable. They had one on Top Gear and torched the motor from a few hot laps around the track. And of course, how are you going to raise the suspension, borrow the lift kit from a wranger and hope? The Elise it's taken from is no taller, and there aren't exactly suppliers lining up to get Tesla's offroad. And, that said, a tall suspension does not an off-roader make, you'd still need better tires, more suspension travel, skid plates to prevent serious damage to the undercarriage, etc. Do you find this valuable? |

Dirt bikes and horses. The horses could be used as workers as well when planting crops. I know the down side to the whole dirt bike argument but where i live and where my BOL is, i never have to touch a road after the first 1/4 mile or so. I have it mapped out and its only about 18 miles to my BOL. We have horses at a near by location to the bol so its not a problem getting them to the location afterwards. There are a few cattle if we get a craving for fresh steak.

" There are a few cattle if we get a craving for fresh steak.""I'd hope that horses are unaffected by the zombie virus/radiation/whatever...armor strong enough for a human bite wouldn't do a durn thing to stop a horse bite..." The horses could be trained over a long time at least. And Armour could be made. I also agree on this, if you have hay for winter and fresh grass during the winter it is easy to feed them as well. making them good to use over longer time. If we get them running after some time I would remake the trains to run on coal. And use them for transport over longer areas. Breed the cattle that way you have meat for longer time, you also get cream and milk from cows. Do you find this valuable? |

Chevrolet Suburban for me. Chevrolet has never ever let me down. You take care of it and it takes care of you. Yes, it may not be the best on gas so thats why I shall recommend a diesel. Then all you have to do is raid the Mickey D's.

"Grab the Prius!!!"You seriously think a Prius is gonna have a chance if you have to plow your way though a horde? I doubt that thing's windshield could take a fat guy hitting it at 55 mph. Dont think it wont happen. If you travel by road, all kinds of things are bound to happen. Plus you know how easy it would be to turn you over? At least no one has said they would drive a Smart Car for Z-Day. I think I would piss myself laughing. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Large V8 for some torque, decent ground clearance, and good cargo capacity. Though, regarding your one comment about a Prius getting turned over, you realize the top heavy burban would only be worse, right? If anything, that would be one reason to turn a large SUV down, you hit something at any kind of speed and jerk the wheel... Just keep your belt on. Do you find this valuable? |
