this is probably one of the worst lists i've seen. I'd like to post something better. Do you find this valuable?

It was a list voted on by the members here.

What would your top ten list look like?

I'm curious as well.

Like Timber said, this was voted.

Yeah, I noticed that it was voted. But wow... If just seems like people here will probably die with a vote like that. But then again, look at our president. My list so far goes like this...

1. (Tied) SIG 556 and FN SCAR
2. (tied) AR-15 and AK-47
3. MSAR
4.FN2000
5. LWRC PDW
6. Barrett REC7 6.8 spc
7. HK SL-8
8. Umarex COLT M4 22LR
9. Ruger Mini-14
10. Springfield Socom II

That's my list right now. If I were allow to write an article, I'd explain why these were the top ten and the advantages and disadvantages. All in which a civilian can buy. Some may cost an arm and a leg, but none the less anyone that has a clean background can purchase. But I seriously wonder how some of these got voted...

The title is "Top 10 Rifles of the Apocalypse" not "Top 10 Rifles for Military Ops and Yuppies". Simplicity, affordability and ammo/parts availability were big factors during voting.

That being said, I don't agree with a couple guns on the list either.

toxic shock is right, the fact that more than half of his picks used the same ammo which gives little variety. oh and the ruger 10/22 beats the colt m4 22LR any day of the week. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Not to mention the weapons listed are tried and true, proven legends of combat. While a couple are more civilian than anything else, most on that list have played a crucial role in waging a war of one kind of another within our history.

While all that plastic is great, I certainly wouldn't be putting down the rifles listed there, not by a long shot. I might sub the Kel-tec for the Kel-tec SU16, similar design with a bigger round, but other than that it's a solid group.

Look we like that you tried to help out the site, but as the other people said, you aren't thinking in the mind of a civilian, most of these are "Commando" Weapons that you'd have to raid a Military Depot for, some arent even legally manufactured in the US. 0  out of 1 found this valuable. "Perhaps with some new members afoot we need to update the list with a new vote?"
Not really. This is just one member and while his list is decent I personally see no point in a new list.
There aren't enough users active to make a new list worth the effort since there would only be a 1-2 vote difference on a given weapon.

i dont think the lists mean a whole lot anyway because alot of the votes came from people who had no experience with the weapons they were voting for. if you went back through the voting threads and counted the votes of the all the members who have been around for a while and are known to have firearms experience the list would look different.

i know there were alot of votes based solely on movies, video games, and youtube videos.

This is the internet. Information is widely available...and easily produced. Thus everything regarding people online is suspect.

The list is simply about what the most popular firearm would be. No knowlege required to pick a weapon.

ug. Where to begin?

How about: simple directions of how this list was generated and the criteria.
One vote for one weapon per member and the criteria set forth.

Lists and opinions are like noses, we all have them. Some are more educated or sophisitcated but whatever.

There are 12 guns on his top '10' already. Most of the members in the contest stuck with the one vote/gun per member rule.

If we all got 12 'votes' we'd need ballots and machines to get to chaos.

Even in DPR of Maryland, M-1 Carbines are available (over 6 million of the mil ones made, how many SCARs, FN2000s and MSARs are around, unowned?). About 70% of this list just isn't here to see let alone have.

You don't have to explain any advantages/disadvantages. Some of these just don't meet the criteria while a few do.

Out of your list of 12, which is the ONE you would actually vote for? Then explain that.

Also, I believe there was a limit on the price of the gun when you voted.

That was one of the criteria: availability. There are large of numbers of just about every gun available on the list. But, like Timber said, how many FN2000s are availabile near you?

Okay, I'm not trying to be a jerk when I ask this, but how many of those have you shot?

P.S. As I've said before, the Carbine probably won because it's on the cover of the ZSG.

Yes, but how many are there, and how much are they? If a $300 gun can do the same thing as a $3000 gun, then most people are going to opt for the $300 one.

Out of your top 12, I've never seen six of them available at any store near me. And the ones I did see were quite expensive.

SasquatchJim, none taken. I've actually have shot all of them. I assist my friend in a weapons review website. Although a lot of these guns are very tactical, any american citizen with a clean back ground can buy them. of course the thing of price does come into play and I understand that. However that's where preparation comes in. Save around $800 and you cann get a decent AR. I know its easier said than done. but if you expect to just pick up a gun of the ground and start making head shots, then u really are in trouble b/c shooting firearms isn't the same as a video game. You actually be surprise on what your neighbor has in his or her collection. Do you find this valuable?

Sasquatch. They are actually quite a bit of these gun available at least in texas. Gun shows are a great place to see them and check out this website www.budsgunshop.com now the difference between a $300 gun and a $3000 gun is a drastic difference. However, I gotta get to work, but I'll post the prices on these gun later this after noon. Do you find this valuable?

When you say "You" you don't directly mean me, correct?
I know the guns aren't really $3000; I was exaggerating. What I'm saying is, I'm not going to spend a lot of money on a tactical gun, if the hunting rifle I already have can do the same thing.

Y'know, the whole concept of a "best" rifle is purely objective. If you can shoot an AR best, then that's your best rifle. But, if I can shoot a lever-action best, then that's my best gun. Like you said, I'm not just gonna pick up a gun I'm most comfortable with and expect to use it; I'm sticking with tried-and-true guns that I've used before.
