I have alot of power tools drills, chain saws, ect, i also have a diesel generator.

We've actually hashed this discussion out a few times, but the general consensus is that while electricity is very handy, it's not a basic requirement for survival. If it were, humans would have gone extinct long ago because the practical application of electricity is something that's occurred only over the last 150 years, and humans have been around much longer than that.The problem with generators is that they all require fuel to use, something that is both finite and difficult to obtain in a disaster. Even man-powered gens require that the person running the crank consume a little extra food to maintain body weight. There's no doubt that electricity is handy, and at some point in the rebuilding process it would become a necessity, but I think that as a species, we could get along without it for a long time. Thoughts? Do you find this valuable? |
