Don't wait to seperate.

Say you got 1 person infected and no one knows they turn and infect EVERYONE else in quarantine? kill em all DUH ok yea that works. why waste the manpower that could be gained. LOCK THEM Up separately in rooms with no windows without bars and SECURITY DOORS with an area they can be watched though and killed if they are found to be infected. this will prevent unnecessary spreading of infection of any kind.

Because the isolation (combined with the fear of infection) could be more detrimental to the group. Remember that quarantine is a procedure that will have a 99% no-incident rate. If the longest zombification is 48 hours, then 52.8 hours as a quarantine rate would be uncomfortable in isolation. If the longest zombification is 96 hours, then 105.6 would be unbearable.I think that the benefits of communal quarantine outweigh the risks. If someone shows obvious signs of illness (not just zombification, but any communicable disease) then this would be picked up on and treated by the medical staff as necessary. Quarantine is not just throwing people in a room, waiting out the clock, then opening the door and seeing who is left. Constant monitoring is required. Do you find this valuable? |

"LOCK THEM Up separately in rooms with no windows without bars and SECURITY DOORS with an area they can be watched though and killed if they are found to be infected. this will prevent unnecessary spreading of infection of any kind."My quarantine area is the lowest tier. It's primary purpose is pasture for animals. I cannot afford to spend valuable acreage on "holding cells" that are likely to go unused for most of the time. Imagine that I have to spend 40 years behind the walls. The cells might get used for 100 days in total. 300 at a push. That still leaves 14,310 days where they have no use. You need to slow down your thread making, You're cluttering the forums a tad.On a related note: You talk about killing men and women like it's licking a lolipop. Sweet and easy. You do not gain manpower by mass murdering infected. They may kill your men, and your men turn to them, but it don't work the other way around. Also, locking up the infected causes a very large drop in morale, the group knowing that is their fate should they be infected. No light, no fresh air, No visits from family and friends. And why couldn't there family at least come see them to say a last good bye? when there not in use they could be used as extra storage quite easily and would also disuade stealing of rations by anyone on reduced rations as stated in your crime and punishment section. It's so that 1 person in quarentine won't infect the other 10 or 20 or even 30 and if its not THE infection why risk spreading and It can even be treated better in the isolation room then outside of it. Also would help with some people and privacy

"isolation room"This is why. Isolation. I can see your point that separating those in quarantine will eliminate cross contamination. But the area they are potentially staying in is almost 300,000 sqft. Enough space to stay apart, but the freedom to pass the time together. Do you find this valuable? |
