trophykiller	how will you combat zanimals? Sep 2 2010, 3:34 AM EDT \| Post edited: Sep 2 2010, 3:34 AM EDT So, you may have seen an earlier post of mine where i pointed out zombie animals(zanimals) would be a pain in the ass. So, if my instinct(i guess that's what you would call it) is, ounce again, correct how would you deal with them? One that i'm realy concerned about is the bats. Imagine fighting something that small... that FLIES. another to be worried about are the aquatic mammals. they are underwater, after all, and VERY large. And the one that will have you crapping your pants: bears. i'm not sure how many of you realize this, but the best way to survive a bear attack(ounce its already attacking you) is to make it seem like you're not worth it. But this won't work after z-day, the bears will just keep coming until you're a zombie or it's dead. bad news. so what will you do?(feel free to give examples for all mammals) Post reply 12 out of 19 found this valuable. Hmm, for the hateful little things I would hope that the virus had mutated so much to be able to affect them specifically that it wouldn't transmit over to humans from their bites. I think it would really come down to some pretty nasty things. guns would be difficult to use against smaller things but necessary for larger ones. You may have to go hand to hand and just try to crush things like bats =_= I can catch flies out of the air, sometimes, and bats are much larger and more predictable. Wearing heavily padded leather gauntlets and splinted bracers might help in keeping them from biting your hands. The machete that I would carry as a backup would give me maneuverability in attacking against the things that aren't as slow as the humans and even enough damage to incapacitate smaller animals in a single slash even if I didn't decapitate them. Heavy leather boots would help in stomping and kicking at such things too. Shin guards would be helpful, I think, especially since I would likely have running shoes. I think birds would be worse than bats. Bats have parts designed for eating insects and fruit mostly but many birds have sharp beaks and claws =_= At least bears would be very infrequent where I live, but I'd imagine either multiple spears or a gun would be the only real option =_= I would suggest sleeping in tents on the high ground though to give you some warning and time before you get bitten by some small rodent or bird. =_= A sawed off shotgun would actually come in handy if fighting fast aggressive little critters too! =^___^= Post reply 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Sep 4 2010, 11:24 AM EDT Yeah there wouldn't be enough time to realize what was up in order to even attempt to get a defense made with mosquito net. I personally don't like that scenario so I don't think much about it =^_^= My personal brand of zombies would maybe mutate to infect a few other species but then the mutated strain wouldn't catch on the human cells' oligosaccharide tags so it wouldn't cross over. Still kinda fun to think about Zanimals though =^_^= As for the bear, I would always want a high powered rifleman in my group for distance shooting when applicable. Just imagine a swarm of Z-Mice, chipmunks, rats, and squirrels (all of which can climb trees) converging on your position hungry for blood and brains..... shudder ... bison would be pretty darn frightening too... " mountain lion, coyotes, wolves, horses, bats, bagers, prairie dogs, armadiloes, platypusses(did anyone ever tell you they have stingers with venom powerful enough to kill a dog?), cats, dogs, chuck norris, bears, whales, sea lions. imagine all of those coming to kill you. Chuck Norris white blood cells would totally destroy the Zed Virus (assuming it is a virus). Unfortunately because of the total destruction of the virus cell a vaccine would be imposable to create. It may be a little more difficult to deliver and may require a higher caliber but it will be the same method. You kill the brain or destroy the shell, you either kill or stop the zanimal. If animals become zombies, we will have a real fight on our hands. Can imagine zombie elephants or rhinos? I think it was too much for the genre writers to write about and had the virus kill animals outright unless they were experiments from the Umbrella Corporation.
