"sling shot with small stones maybe? lol lots of rocks on the ground."
LOL - That too. I do actually carry a slingshot in my BOB for purpose of taking small game if my other food supplies had been depleted in an emergency, but if that small game was clamoring for my throat at the time, I'm sure that my slingshot could be set to task as a defensive weapon as well.

I'd imagine it's the same as coming across a rabid animal. If you can stagger it, you can kill it. Do you find this valuable?

"So, you may have seen an earlier post of mine where i pointed out zombie animals(zanimals) would be a pain in the ass.

So, if my instinct(i guess that's what you would call it) is, ounce again, correct how would you deal with them? One that i'm realy concerned about is the bats. Imagine fighting something that small... that FLIES.

another to be worried about are the aquatic mammals. they are underwater, after all, and VERY large.

And the one that will have you crapping your pants: bears. i'm not sure how many of you realize this, but the best way to survive a bear attack(ounce its already attacking you) is to make it seem like you're not worth it. But this won't work after z-day, the bears will just keep coming until you're a zombie or it's dead. bad news.

so what will you do?(feel free to give examples for all mammals)"
if that happen we just drop to the bottom of the food chain so i say trial by fire if it has 4 legs your roasted meat.. birds are gonna be tough though but every thing must go at the fire sale

"no, i was thinking the same.
also, bats see through their ears, you just need to a) produce ultrasonic sounds b) take cover behind something soundproof. (see a vampire bat: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Vampire_bat_skeleton_face.jpg scary isn't it???)
as for other animals, I've got the best solution ever: sleep in tree-houses, build your house in a tree, and you can defend from almost anything.
the only problem would be bats, but they can be stopped with a glass"
Bears can climb trees; If anything, And this is rather far-fetched, An underground shelter would work better than the tree-house idea.

An underground shelter would still be vulnerable to rats, mice and other ground dwelling vermin. Now there ARE underground shelter types that rats and such wouldn't be able to get into, but these are uncommon, and for most people, prohibitively expensive.

Bats... i would think a shotgun with birdshot would make short work of them and if they get too close, whack 'em with a baseball bat with nails through it. 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

"Just like humans, anything that destroys the brain will work. It may be a little more difficult to deliver and may require a higher caliber but it will be the same method. You kill the brain or destroy the shell, you either kill or stop the zanimal. If animals become zombies, we will have a real fight on our hands. Can imagine zombie elephants or rhinos?

I think it was too much for the genre writers to write about and had the virus kill animals outright unless they were experiments from the Umbrella Corporation."
UMBRELLA CORP the b******ds (Sounds from behind dumpster) huh? A LICKER NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CERBERUS DOGS?!? DOUBLE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. but for real? Zombie animals will not be easy to kill, think about it, lions bears cheetahs elephants etc we are screwed big time.

the thing is, normal zeds are slow. so anything small will be able to escape easily. same with some larger animals. bears and the such can decapitate or rip several zeds apart in one blow. the only possible zanimals would be large cats, dogs, cattle, horses, and maybe large african animals (which would only happen when encountered with a horde of several hundred or more. another valid point, wouldnt the zombies also eat the animal at the same time, and with a horde of even 100-200, the animal would be stripped to the bone before it could reanimate in 12 hrs from initial contact with virus,(i believe max brooks's style) Do you find this valuable?

no I just know that if there are going to be zanimals is that an undead elephant is going to be a b!^(# to kill and cheetahs are fast as balls they can run up to 30mph! Would you want an undead cheetah running at you full speed before you can pull your gun out it's already munching on your face.

Since the assumption in that post was that zombies will be slow, not necessarily a correct assumption but for purposes of discussion I'll go with it nonetheless, how do you suppose that an elephant or especially a cheetah would ever be infected in the first place? Given that it is impossible for even an able bodied human to chase down one of these animals on foot, unless the animal is trapped or cornered somewhere or otherwise unable to run, how likely is it that a slow shambling zombie will fare any better?

With a bow & arrow, just like any other animal i hunt. I have been attacked by a bear on 3 different ocassions. On two of them it took 3 rounds to the head from my old S&W 500. Bears are tough SOBs to kill. & yes there was a brick in my pants on those ocassions.
