Andy's simple plan
Sep 5 2010, 7:22 AM EDT
No guns needed approach. On hearing/seeing a zombie apocalypse occuring: Equipment In back pack: As much electrical tape / parcel tape as i can find Bottles of water/milk. Food anything small and durable. Many pairs of scissors. Phone. (its better than nothing.) String and lots off it. Hack saw and lots of nails. As many other tools/knifes as i can fit in my bag. Plan: 1) Pack equipment. 2) Head to the nearest wooded area. 3) Cut off a branch and string the two sides together to make a simple bow. 4) sharpen the edges on the bow so it can also be used as a spear. 5) If their are few zombies carve arrows out of smaller branches and attach small stones to the end. 6) Head over to pick up my friend and others if we have time. 7) Make our way away from the town and make camp in a forest or woodland. (abundant food and water.) 8) Every so often head out to look for other fellow survivors and when back at the camp prepare for the next day eg. arrows, extra bows, spears, javelins and most of all food. 9)Once their are plenty of us about 10 - 15 make our way to a farm or the outskirts of town if possible. 10)begin using tools to make stronger weapons and make the farm or area barricaded to the pulp as a fall back move may be required in the next stage. 11)Using every weapon we got we must try and get to a supermarket and stock up on food and drink then make our way back to the farm but if we cannot push that far into town we will have to fall back. 12) Once stocked up on our farm or outskirts of a town begin knocking on barricades and calling out to any survivors their may remain as to survive this we will need as many people as possible. 13) We try to settle ourselves on the farm and raid supermarkets under the cover of darkness. eventually Move on from town to town collecting survivors and try to begin civilisation. I guess being in England you don't really have the gun option. Still, fighting Zeds with sticks and stones doesn't sound like a picnic. Anyhow good luck with everything.

"I know its hard to find guns here. but its making the most out of what we have."Ask any teenage hoodlum in England...he'll tell you where you can get a gun. It won't be legal, but you can find guns. Or head out into the rural areas...most of the farmers have guns. Rifles and brake action shotguns are certainly better than running around with a stick bow. Also...you may want to rethink the whole raid anything under the cover of darkness. The undead do not seem to need light to see...so you are at a disadvantage. They can see and you cannot. You should bunker up at night and scavenge during the day when you can see what is coming for you. The dark has a way of playing on your fears. This will be especially true during a Z-Poc. Very true but see where i live i the posh area their are few rifle ranges around the area but by the time we would get their. Their will be no guns left to use.I do see your point about darkness and i may need to re-think that part of my plan but the whole bottom bit is not perfected yet im still working on it. "Very true but see where i live i the posh area their are few rifle ranges around the area but by the time we would get their. Their will be no guns left to use.See...I live in Canada...but my girlfriend is from the U.K. She's from Bristol. Her father and her Grandfather live just outside Bristol...and they both have a bunch of legally owned guns. Break action shotguns and bolt action rifles mostly...but any kind of gun is better than no gun at all. Also you may want to test the power on a home-made stick bow before deciding that it is a weapon. Try putting a home made arrow fried from a stick bow through a free hanging coconut...at any range. If the arrow penetrates...from any distance...it's a weapon. If it does not...then you may be fecked. Why not buy a real wooden recurve bow and a bunch of arrows now? Start training with the bow and get good at it well before the SHTF. A friend of mine just bought a really nice take down bow...and he's pretty good with it. He can consistantly break head sized baloons at about 25 yards. Just a thought. Do you find this valuable? |

I do own A well kept recurved bow which is the one I talk about in my story but i have worked with bush craft for many years and I can honestly say bows made from branches and string can be as powerful as you want them to be.I only know this after an accident involving me, my friend and a branch bow. I live in england and I own a nice little ruger p90, All legal and i've been brought up around guns all my life (though mostly just shotguns, And one lee enfeild for killing foxes) and i can onestly say i probably have more experiance with guns than most americans on this site. And for bows before you buy one you should take lessons, Guessing how to use it is a lot harder than getting experts/competition winners to teach you, I don't know how many people are home taught that dead relise. I like the plan. Just dont like the supermarket part. Most likely people will go there and where there are people there will be zeds. So I think the supermarket part isnt a good idea. Other than that. Best of luck my friend

"yep. I live in england and I . . . and i can onestly say i probably have more experiance with guns than most americans on this site.well, well, well. Bold claim. You may have more 'experiance' but some of us have plenty of experience that can be taught easily and transferred, not that that particulary matters. I believe the opportunity to acquire*any* experience in a normal fashion (not belonging to the upper class) is markedly less in the former Brit empire. Do you find this valuable? |

"What are you trying to say about the british ?? What have we ever done to you ??I like the English , they're basically Americans with a better variety of cuss words. And Simplysurvival all i got to say is "NO taxation , without representation." XD And remember how we played the role of the Calvary in World War II, sweeping in and saving you guys. XD But seriously, I like our neighbors over the pond, and hope when the SHTF that you boys and girls don't go all 28 days later on us. Do you find this valuable? |

"Aha fair enough xD we could of handled them you just wanted to show off ;~]You know I never even thought about that. I think Canada would do all right. I mean Rager zombies would freeze to death in no time, depending on the location and time of the year. But Mexico would have it rough. The U.S on the other hand, I would like to think, would fair well. Especially in certain parts. Do you find this valuable? |

Hey there , I'm new to this site but am very well versed in zombie topics, You are Smart to go into the woods, here in Canada we call it cottege country and there is plenty of cotteges to wait it out in and grow your own food. But the problem is , how to Zombies find you , do they smell you or is it your pheramones or brain activity ( since that is the only organ still working in theroy) what if they find you , This is a hard thing to think through , anyone have any ideas ?

And on the zombies, no one knows, because Zombies don't exist yet. Keyword is Yet. We try to prepare for the worst, hope for the best. The worst is immortal rager fast zombies that nothing can kill, the best is no zombie, or slow, very mortal zombies that die in a week or so that can't take a 9mm to the heart. 1 out of 1 found this valuable.
