In Memory of Those Lost on September 11, 2001
Sep 11 2010, 8:07 AM EDT | Post edited: Sep 11 2010, 8:07 AM EDT
I know this isnt a thread that has anything to do with zombies, and I know this is an international site and this slaughter of American soldiers, Marines, Police, Fire Fighters, Paramedics, and civilians may not have affected you.
But I felt that it was deserving of a post.
September 11, 2001, was the day that terrorists hijacked jet liners and crashed them into the World Trade Center, The Pentagon, and the small field in Pennsylvania. It is the reason I joined the United States Marine Corps and it is the reason that I serve my country.
This thread is in memory of those who passed away that day in the attacks, and those who passed away saving lives. The United States of America owes every one of them our promise that their death will not have been in vain.
Please post any comments regarding this massacre, if you have lost a loved one in these attacks, or if you just want to pay your respects to those who were lost that fateful day.

Guess I will start it off: Thank you to all who sacraficed their lives that day in order to save the lives of others. And every Sept 11 since, I have held a moment of silence wherever I am in all of your honor. Do you find this valuable?

I'm an Aussie but i can still recognise what impact it had on all those affected by september 11. I admire every one in the resuce services who helped in the aftermath.

Any one who was affected by the attacks I trully feel sympathy for you.

I agree, the attack occurred on American Soil, but if you think about it, the center of the world economy was attacked: The World Trade Center, where many brokering firms work all around the world.
It has affected us all.

Many of you are not going to like this, and I'm only a foreigner but I feel the need to say it.

9-11 was nearly ten years ago, you must, please try to get over it!

The 3000 people that died on that day have been used to justify the deaths of tens, if not hundreds of thousands. Worse, those 3000 dead have been, and are being used as a kind of political Plato's cave, a universal metaphor. Used to prove whatever theory any misguided bigot or reactionary cannot defend in any other way.
The 'attack' was hard on the USA because America had not experienced total war in two hundred years and never experienced a thing like carpet-bombing (that it worked so hard to perfect.)
The 'attack' provoked an understandable outburst of hysterical angst but if there is one thing Americans excel at, its communicating. So my question is; how well does 300 million people's trauma need communicating and more to the point (ten years on) for how long?
The people who lost friends and loved ones or experienced injury or trauma have my deepest sympathy, but you need to ask yourselves how long you wish your suffering to be exploited by the unscrupulous.
The pain of that day may well be the hardest thing that your nation has suffered. The next thing is very much harder, to forgive.
The people of the United States has risen to, and overcome many challenges but if you cannot master this one, it may be your last.
Finally to the than three quarters of Americans that profess to be Christian, I would remind you of the Lord's prayer.

And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Do me a favor Frank: dont post anything on any threads if they are not constructive or respectful. How dare you. So what the Jews should just get over the Holocaust?
As far as the forgiveness goes, that doesnt give an excuse to not retaliate when American lives are lost due to a global terror organization. My opinion on terrorists and forgiveness? Kill em all, let god handle the forgiveness.
I take your post very offensively.

In respect to what Frank said, war is not the answer.

The armies of the world should put down all weapons. Let disputes be settled peacefully.

How much good could come from all the resources poured into war?

Though we will never "get over" the taking of our brothers and sisters, we do have to eventually forgive unless we want to continue to live in a pit of hate.

Hmm my rambling means nothing. We will forever continue to kill each other. We will continue to milk the earth of its precious resources. We will continue to live with our heads up our as$es, until we eventually kill ourselves.
