What would be the official-issue weapons of ZSDW?

Alright. Say we had an actual location, and had a sufficient amount of bills to start building a small armory. Forget that we don't really have either of these, or that we would be put on several watchlists for doing so. What would be the firearms and melee weapons that would stock our newly-purchased gun racks and cabinets? We don't have the money to stock it with highly expensive weapons, so for this scenario, we'll put a cap on $1000 cost per piece for firearms, and $100 cost per piece for melee. You must also consider that not everyone here is a firearms native (keep in mind our high teenager traffic), and therefore might not be able to operate and care for complex weapons efficiently (AR-15, etc.). You want a gun that you can basically say "This is here, that's there, ok, you're good to go." What would you choose, ZSDW? Rifle: (one only) Pistol: (one only) Shotgun: (one only) Special-purpose firearms: (Any non-standard, niche-filling firearms, can choose more than one.) Knife: (one only) Additional melee weapons: (as many as you want) {{{{EDIT: This is not a place to post your own, personal loadout. Please be so kind to actually read this post and follow the instructions in said post.}}}} 4 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

Additional Melee Weapons: Axes! =^____^= Not hand axes, full sized wood-chopping pieces. Nearly three feet long or so and with lightweight heads.

The guys who aren't "firearms natives" should probably just sit in a corner and reload our magazines for us until we have time to properly train them. I don't feel comfortable at all around people who don't know how to handle a firearm, keep their fingers off the trigger and control where that muzzle is pointed!Anyways, I only have an opinion on the first three... Rifle - AR15. We have enough military, ex-military, and civilian enthusiasts who have experience with this weapon that training those who don't won't be a problem. Plus many guys already own one, so it simplifies ammo, magazine, and parts sharing between weapons. Pistol - For sheer simplicity, a .357 revolver. People who want an autoloader can bring their own. Shotgun - What else but a Mossberg 500 or Remington 870? 10 out of 10 found this valuable. Do you? |

What would be the firearms and melee weapons that would stock our newly-purchased gun racks and cabinets?Rifle: SKS. Cheap, reliable, good ammo that is very inexpensive to buy in bulk. Shotgun: Mossberg 500 or Remington 870, a few in 12 gauge and a few in 20 gauge (for younger members). Pistol: Glocks of varying calibers. Maybe Ruger SR9 as well; got that huge 18 shot ammo capacity. Knife: Ka-Bar Additional Melee Weapons: Machetes, and Axes, full size and small ones. 3 out of 6 found this valuable. Do you? |

The only time the ZSDW would issue weapons would be if the person receiving an issue weapon didn't already have one - so you better believe that the weapons we would issue as a group would be super inexpensive. $1000 per weapon is ridiculous and largely unrealistic; most people can't afford to drop a G on one weapon, much less for a bunch of them. I'm going to go as cheap as possible on my list...Rifle: SKS or Mosin-Nagant. Cheap, reliable and accurate and doesn't require the user to know how to read to operate correctly. Magazine compatibility is a non-issue if you don't have a detachable magazine! Shotgun: Mossberg 500, Remington 870 Express or Maverick 88 - 'Nuff said. Pistol: (Insert random 9mm/.38 Special here...) Knife: KA-BAR or similar Add'l Melee: Machetes and hatchets 3 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Hmmm. Wait, so only one firearm and melee? Or the firearms can go up to 1000?"The cost of the firearm you choose cannot go over $1000 per one. Do you find this valuable? |

Rifle: M1 Carbine ~ Light, effective, small amount of recoil for quick follow up shots.Handgun: Beretta M9, Browning Hi-Power, or a good quality M1911 ~ A few pretty high up on the list of reliable firearms, and available in pretty common calibers. Shotgun: Remington 870 ~ Inexpensive, reliable, and can pack a heck of a wholl-up at close quarters and accurately out to 100 yds with slugs. Special Purpose: A Remington, Savage, or Thompson bolt action rifle ~ huntin and taking out large threat targets at longer distances. Special Purpose: A Henry Survival 22 Rifle ~ It was designed in conjunction with the Air Force to make it compact and reliable. Knife: Kukri or similiar ~ It can still be used to cut but can also chop things such as small trees. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Special Purpose: A Henry Survival 22 Rifle"I've heard nothing but bad things about that gun. The stock is cheap plastic, and I've been told it has poor accuracy. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

What I would choose:Rifle: Kel-Tec SUB-2000 9mm w/92FS adapter ($300). Cheap, easy to store, and shares magazines and ammo with a US military sidearm. Pistol: Beretta 92FS ($629). Shares magazines with rifle, not too expensive. Only issued to certain people. Shotgun: Mossberg 590 Mariner ($470). One of the more durable Mossberg shotguns (as if they weren't already), 9-round tube, and handles 3" shells. Ammo is cheap and plentiful. Special Purpose: Savage Edge XP in .308 ($379). Inexpensive, and comes with a factory-installed scope. Special Purpose: Saiga 12 ($600). A more combat-effective shotgun than the Mossberg. Special Purpose: Heritage Rough Rider ($150). Issued as BOB survival guns. Knife: Cold Steel Kukri ($20). Cheap, multi-purposed, and an effective weapon. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Rifle: Marlin 336C in .30-.30Pistol: Smith & Wesson 686 .357 mag. revolver. Shotgun: Remington 870 Express 12 ga. w/ slug barrel & variety of chokes. Special-purpose firearm: Savage model 10 in .308 w/ scope. Knife: Ka-Bar Additional melee weapons: Dead-On Annihilator. The Marlin because its a lever with all the dependability that comes with that particular action. .30-.30 is a proven performer thats got enough punch without a lot of recoil. The Smith revolver is easy to care for and safer in the hands of a newbie. Dual choices in ammo is a plus IMO. A Remington 870 w/ a box of choke tubes and a slug barrel is THE definition of survival weapon. Tough to beat that kind of versitility. A savage model 10 chambered in .308 is my definition of special purpose. This bolt-action rifle will reach out and touch someone. Its a Ka-Bar 'nuff said. The Annihilator is a multi-purpose tool that would also fit the bill as a melee weapon IMO. Do you find this valuable? |

Ruger 10/22Mossberg 500 Ruger SR9 Machete I picked these all because if you're issuing firearms you will need ALOT of ammunition and these use th most common cheapest ammo. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |
