"The only thing I didn't like in the trailers is his cache of weapons on his back while riding the horse. Too much unnecessary weight in my opinion and not very easy to access.Yes, but for a non zday-trained entrant, the "more the merrier" would seem the way to go. I actually found that realistic, and the consequences are evident. I'm keen for this one. I hope this goes all the way. The brutally visceral visuals for the most part don't look cheesy, and it appears that the survival issues aren't screwed with too much. Do you find this valuable? |

"there is a comic book?"Yeah, only about 80 of them, won awards the last 2 years at the Scream Awards, even beating out the DC Comics entrant into the zombie genre Blackest Night. This story is extremely character driven, and will be alot of drama. Like "What happens when a new leader takes over a group of survivors", & "What effects do these events have on the sanity of survivors" The only friend of mine who didnt read the comics before yesterday, has already asked me for my issues, since me & the rest of my friends were comparring the 2, like "Why isnt Glenn part of the camping survivors" or "Wheres Cheryl & Sophie?" Infact being a fan of the comics, I was worried (Image comics is not known for making great TV shows, Spawn cartoon ran 3 seasons and only the 1st season was redeemable, Witchblade just sucked, W.I.L.D. Cats, & Savage Dragon cartoons were lame) After seeing the episode I now understand what Kirkman was saying by "there are going to be detours, but the story is essentially the same" I for one welcomed the changes, and enjoyed seeing the events play out (like when Dwayne cracked Rick with the shovel) For those that missed the first episode, Try and find it online, very rarely does good zombie media get released, my honest opinion is, This first episode was on par with Romero movies, the special effects make Tom Savini look like an amateur, and the acting was beyond expectation. It would seem as if every party involved is doing their absolute best to make this show as good(or better than) the comics. Do you find this valuable? |

The first episode was great. I only had one problem with the first show. He was carrying way too many weapons in that duffel bag and the weapons probably spilled out once or twice while he was riding the horse. I guess we can mark that as an inexperienced survivalist. As for water, he was driving a car and from Kentucky to Atlanta, it is possible to travel that far without water. Maybe the only argument for water that can be made is when he was on horseback and then definitely stuck in that hot tank. Otherwise, everything else looked good. There were a few changes from the comic book but nothing major and I think they were good changes. For example, in the comic, Deputy Grimes opens the door to the cafeteria (the door that was chained, reinforced with the 2x4, and had the warning – Don’t Open, Dead Inside) in the hospital were the undead were kept or how ever they ended up there. I agree with this change because I feel if he just woke up from a coma, he would be in no shape to flee or fight off 1 or more zombies unless they had no legs like bicycle girl. All I have to say is that he is one lucky dude. Lucky #1- no significant contact until Morgan enters the scene. Lucky #2 - The escape hatch on the underside of the M1 Tank was open.

I was delightfully surprised at the production quality of this series. After seeing sooo much crap put out by SyFy (Sharktopus) it sort of dims your expectations for made for tv content but this was great. Can't wait for episode 2. I've also heard talk that they may be turning it into a reg series like the remake of V was.

"Just found a link to a to the 1st episode. it looks very good so far."Just finished watching it online. I hope he gets smarter as the season goes along. Too bad about the horse. The horse was a very valuable asset that he lost because of his lack of forethought. The tank is nothing but a coffin for him now, unless he figures out how to get it started (if it has fuel!). If he can get it started, he could just plow through the hordes until he gets to a safe point. He should have remembered the advice from Lennie Jame's character about walkers in groups. He is slightly lucky, offset by his mistakes. I am surprised the other side of the I-85 was so clear. (The inbound side) A major artery like that would probably have people driving on both sides, trying to flee. Initially, people would stay on the outbound side, but after a while of not seeing any traffic, people would begin to use the other side. What I learned from this episode/series so far: If I have to go into a major metro area, post apoc, I will plan a way in and out, and try to find binoculars/scope/telescope to see what I can/what's ahead of me, before I go in. (recon as much as possible) and stay away from the Underground in Atlanta. Do you find this valuable? |

Deputy Grimes is very lucky. He has been lucky since the time he was shot. Now everyone has an idea why everyone should stay away from major cities or one may end up losing more than just a horse. This pic is so cool! ... I enjoyed it but thought alot of what the people in it did didn't make any sense, like why did the man and his boy split up from the deputy...they said they needed to practice thier shooting or something.[?]Why didn't they fill up gas cans befor leaving. I would be surprised if the police station didn't have a gas tank, and if not don't tell me all those cars everywhere all were out of gas. Whats up with all the guns and you got to think ammo in a duffle bag on his back as he rode the horse? Really showed why you want something a little "better" then a 6 shot revolver if attacked by a zombie horde...like maybe that .50 cal MG he went right by. Whats the reason for picking a scoped deer rifle over an AR15 or even a pump shotgun.? You would think if they knew gun shots attracted them they would have found some better non firearm weapons Like I said I enjoyed it but could have been better thought out Do you find this valuable? |

#1 - I think Morgan wanted to shoot his zombie wife for closure and train his boy how to shoot before moving out. Some none survivalist emotional crap I am sure.#2 - I believe they did fuel up before leaving the station. Some departments have fuel to fuel up the cars and some do not. #3 - Yep, the duffel bag full of guns was a fail. What about water and like you said, ammo. #4 - He was used to the revolver and I had no problems with it. He has a M9/92F Beretta now ... ;-) Although, he should have taken the magazines after he dispatch the Zombie Tank crew member. #5 - I agree with what he did with the tank, I think he would have got swarmed even on the M2HB or 50 caliber machine gun(s). Plus he may not know how to operate it or feels he does not know how to operate it. #6 - Grimes did say the armory was significantly hit when he went in there so someone could argue there were no mags or ammunition for the AR ... cough cough. #7 - Probably for TV effect. I thought it was pretty risky for him to hunt down bicycle zombie girl to mercy kill her with his revolver. Do you find this valuable? |

It was awesome. But: 1. Name of the black guy 2. Name of the black guy's son 3. Why did he carry so many guns in his pack while riding the horse? 4. How the hell is he getting out of that tank? 5. Why is it he shoots that little girl in the beggining with his car when that never happens so far, and now hes in the city without his car and his horse is eaten? Many questions, but yeah overall it was good. Do you find this valuable? |

1. Morgan2. Dwayne or Duane, whichever way u wanna spell it 3. prolly for if he does find his wife and son, or just another survivor group, they will have weapons. and im pretty sure he packed ammo as well, not just guns. 4. im guessing the person who contacted him on the radio will do something loud. 5. that was one of those tv series or movie things. they start off with something that kinda gets you into the show, then it starts. he did do that. he did it before finding the horse and after shooting the bicycle girl. you have to piece stuff together. Remember guys, its a freakin' TV show. Entertainment purposes, not a survival seminar.I liked the show and as far as a zombie TV series go beggars can't be choosers. Pros of the show for me were the awesome job the makeup team did on the zombies, building the show slowly and letting you get to know the characters and establishing early on that these zombies are the slow variety. I love the slow variety, they're classic. They also seem to go into a dormant state when prey isn't near. I like that. It builds suspense. You never know when an apparent dead body is going to open its eyes and attack. Do you find this valuable? |

I did not know that this is based off a two year running actual comic book before watching the show so I read the first 20.In the comic book the Sheriff parted ways with the black family that saved him and that was that. The show gives a little more into it and the scope rifle was for the dramatic scene of him shooting his wife, there were no scope rifles to be had in the comic book. The bag of guns. He had the bag of guns in a car that ran out of gas. Not trained in survival or horsemanship he just put him on his back instead of leaving them. Water: He was only thinking about getting to his family and the safety of the Army so was not thinking about much else. In the city is where the comic and the movie really is different. The tank: The M1 does not a hatch underneath it I don't know of any tanks that do. The M-2 Machine gun on top has no rounds leading to the weapon so my guess is that it's out of ammo. How does he get out of tank? Don't know in the comic book he never comes close to it. Do you find this valuable? |

38. The Walking Dead Timeline issues
Nov 1 2010, 7:38 PM EDT
Love the show, of course, but I have some problem with the timeline (and I also couldn't help screaming at the TV over stupidity).Ok, our Dep Sherf wakes up in the hospital. *Some* power is on. His IV bag is dry. If he was there longer than 4 days post-fu(k, he shouldn't be alive due to dehydration. When they go to the station for a hot shower, the statement is made that the gas lines have been down 'about a month.' The amount of military equipment laying around is amazing. Looks like only abandoned w/in a week. The wreckages and conditions of some bodies (like the farm house) can't be more than 2 weeks. Anyone taking guesses on timing? Do you find this valuable? |
